That shit was disturbing, also that burglar music always spooked me up. The first game generally was surprisingly dark when compared to the later ones.

Protozoid Slimers from Duke 3D. The game wasn't intended to be scary, and honestly they're the weakest enemies in the game, but when it's completely silent just to see them take up your entire screen always fucked me up.

A shame this dungeon was never opened to the public.
>>336639732

>>336644075
lol
>>336645424
Perhaps it's because most N64 games are children oriented, thus they are made to look happy bright and colorful.
But the graphics aren't all proper, and produces a sort of low budget children's media effect, you know when you find something aimed at younger audiences to be creepy.
I could be completely wrong though.

>implying that the whole game isn't spooky
First real spook is literally in the first level with the octopus.
>>336645424
PlayStation games had smaller levels and shorter draw distance on average. The big emptiness of N64 games along with the low res filtered textures gave a very particular and strange look.
>>336645909
I don't know. I don't feel that way about games like Crash and Spyro, which are definitely aimed at the same audience.
>>336645980
I'd guess that that's it, the worlds just feel uncomfortably hollow and empty in them. It sort of hits the uncanny valley of vidya level design.
>>336637958
I was a hardass as a kid who played Hexxen and Heart of Darkness and shit but those fucking Wampas scared the fuck out of me.
>>336641062
Oh, fuck that goddamn clown. My Sim was living by himself and had a decent job and a good routine. One day, I either misclicked or went to take a pee for too long, but he got slightly depressed. Boom, grief clown. He'd wake my Sim up, block him from going to the bathroom, and got him fired because his work performanced plummeted. Friends would come over to cheer him up, but that goddamn clown would depress them until they left. Soon all the money was gone and I had to sell everything in the house to afford chips for him to eat.
Fucking clown.

>>336644008
I can also remember that the game felt somewhat wrong when I played it as a kid, it is just depressingly empty and most levels have some sort of depressing and dreary feel to them. When you add up the fact that I really hate collectathon gameplay, I can sat for sure that I'm not touching that game ever again.

The gex games were by far the worst offenders of this. I hated Gex 3 but still played it a lot because I didn't have a lot of good playstation games
>>336654878
>Man, that last level was pretty tough, am I at the end of the game--
>Welcome to the machine?
>HOLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK
>I'VE DIED SO MANY TIMES WHAT THE FUCK SCREEN SCROLL GOD DAMMIT
>HOLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS BOSS JESUS CHRIST

medievil games were rated T, so i don't think they qualify for this thread
>>336655076
Make him spawn, go on land, poop out eggs, kill him. GG.
>>336655076
he's not
you have to lure him to the shore, shit out a couple; he disappears for a second, rinse and repeat
it takes a while but it's worth it
>>336654552
Sauce on the Nick game?
>>336655007
That fucking boss music with the creepy laugh god dammit. Entire US soundtrack is full of this shit
>>336639725
Lol what a fag

I REALLY need to play more SWAT 4, I've got it sitting on my hard drive but I think I've only gotten through the first three or four levels.
>>336655401
Let's compare.
JP boss music:

US boss music:

One is a high energy hip hop song with a catchy beat and some unique vocals.
The other is a nightmare. And you get to listen to that for every single boss.

My brother gets anxiety attacks if I play anything off the Ecco OST because when he was like five he accidentally level-selected his way into The Machine (iirc the password is like NNNNNN) and the screen flashed red in addition to that horrible screeching sound Ecco makes when he takes damage. I thought he was just fucking with me but he got legitimately mad.
I love the Ecco OST.

I'm too pussy to watch, screencap the face plox

This guy is annoying, but the other two options had people filming computer screens. Skip to 4:50 for relevant part.
This isn't nearly as bad as the Scooby Doo one (still made me jump when I found it cause I'm a pussy), but it got in my head when I was younger.
>>336655401
The fucking PAL boss theme sounds like oney laughing.

I paused the game, turned the tv off, and went to bed. Couldn't do it.
MOTHERFUCKING 3D WHITE HOUSE PAC MAN
JESUS FUCK THAT SHIT CAN GO FUCK ITSELF
LOOK IT UP
I WAS NOT READY FOR ONLINE SHIT AT THE TIME
>>336655807
Done, but as stated before, I'm still a huge pussy so I had toactually look away even though it's not that bad..
The scream really helped, though.
>>336655880
What the actual FUCK
>>336656176
Early flash games were weird shit. This was on Nickelodeon's game site.
>>336656132
What the hell is this, political 'satire'?
>>336655783
Ecco games were pretty fucking unnerving at times. Just the fact that you're constantly deep in the ocean and need air supply is enough fuel for childhood nightmares. It's equally comfy atmosphere as it is creepy.
>>336656139
That's not bad, and here i was having an anxiety attack.
These guys jumpscared me in Banjo Tooie. I was so fucking scared of passing through that area.
>>336656132
>That FDR
>That Nixon
Genuine kek I love it
>>336656326
I mean, it's not, but give it to a kid while playing a scooby-doo point and click game, and it'll make them shit their pants a little.
>>336654720
That just reminds me I made a mask of that boss for a class project
Everyone was unsettled by it
>>336656312
I figured it was a hard game that was short to offset how hard it is because I only ever got like 5 levels in and you only see like 3 in the start screen demo, watched a let's play and found out there's like 24 levels.
Guess I'm just never finishing it. Fuck pushing starfish around with the sonar.
The dreamcast one was really cool, wish they'd revisit the idea
