Saturn once said that there's going to be a Cinema segment, Quest segment, and a Decision segment (This is CQD for short).
Cinema segment is what you'd expect it to be. It's a fully cinematic cutscene. This segment happens in the beginning of the fragment and in between the other segments. It's to get everything rolling.
The Quest segment is going to be an escape room or something similar. It's supposed to act just how it did in 999 and VLR.
The Decision segment is when the main character or one of the members of the team make a decision.It doesn't necessarily have to be you who makes the decision, I'm assuming.
Saturn says that there will be one of these in every lost fragment. If that's true then there could be over 30 escape rooms.

This is also probably why they moved from VN format to western adventure games format. Because if a team leader dies, they'd need to have variations in the narration if it were a VN. Eric would have completely different narration from Q and Sigma would have a completely different narration from Phi etc.

Basically, things won't always be in chronological order and there is a bit of randomness to the game, like for an example there's a 50% chance Sigma will die if he chooses to save Phi, but if he doesn't then Phi will die.
It's done so it'd be really hard to spoil the game because everyone's first experiences would in theory, be different, until you unlock the true ending.

I bought 3DS exclusively for VLR. In result, I got Fire emblems (gba and ds ones too), MH3U, Zeldas as a bonus. Currently having my time playing through FE the binding blade and alter I`m going to dwell into dungeon-crawling genre. So don`t worry about games if you actually consider buying 3ds.
Weren't they also thinking of porting 999 and VLR if ZTD on PC sells decently? Only problem is that I'm not sure how they'd get the final puzzle of 999 to work on PC without just removing all of them like the iOS version does.
