Not really. They decided to go through Belgium because the French had forts at the border, so of course it would have made the invasion more difficult. Belgium was a neutral country, they would not have entered the war otherwise, and they didn't want to. You can't deny that the German move was a dick move.
Funnily they did the same during WW2 with the same success, but Belgium was a dick at that time, refusing the French to build the Maginot line along their border.
