Depending on the difficulty and the game there were sometimes prompts. Regardless, Square is always melee and Triangle is always evade. I think Uncharted 3 tried to add some retarded Arkham elements so Circle was grab IIRC.

When did the rating system get so corrupt and fucked that anything below 90 is mediocre and below 80 is absolute shit? The ratings today honestly feel like 95-100=10/10, 90-94=9/10, etc. I remember 10 years ago when KH2 came out and EGM gave it like a 7.5 and no one bitched. I watched some guy stream it for an hour or so, and the game really looks good.
I think Uncharted might be the series with the biggest difference between how people *think* it plays and how it actually is. So many people on /v/ just say "QTE-fest", "Plays itself", "Movie game" over and over that it isnt even lying shitposting anymore, its what people actually think the gameplay is like because they've never actually played it or even watched footage.
The section that I saw streamed was in a seaside cathederal in Scotland and the bits between combat were basically indentical to platforming sections from Jak 3, except with more realistic physics. And the shooting sections are like any other TPS except you can climb and swing, and there's stealth if you can avoid being seen.
Im not saying the games are the most in-depth things ever, or even good (I like them, I can see why others wouldnt) but for fucks sake I wish people would stop outright lying about them in every thread.

Yeah, you basically can't play any other way in Uncharted 1 2 or 3 then sit behind cover and take pot shots at people because:

Uncharted 2 had fun as fuck multiplayer, but that's because you didn't have a fucking army shooting at you and you could actually climb around and jump, and you know, do Unchartedy Nathan Drake things.
The series is the most mundane thing to play. I really wish it was crazier. All they had to do was reduce the amount of enemies and make it so you can actually do cool shit. Uncharted 4 from what I've seen is trying to do this, with like the grappling hook and enemies seemingly being brain dead, but I think it's too little too late for the series.

i've always regarded the uncharted series as fun games the first time through but largely devoid of replayability. there are some cool and memorable moments but the gameplay itself is just a little above mediocre and the level design is incredibly linear.
but i've been looking at gameplay of uncharted 4 and i'm quited surprised by how non-linear the levels seem to be. moreover, it's looking kind of similar to MGSV, in that you can actually go for a viable stealth route instead of being forced to deal with cover shooting.
hopefully this game turns out good, i'd like to play something other than bloodborne on my ps4 for once.

You're right about the two hits to die, but Uncharted allows for so much more fun than that. Ledge takedowns on niggas, steel fist, abundance of vertical areas so you don't have to attach yourself to a wall, multiple ways to throw a grenade, etc. The shooting is very barebones but the level design and enemy placements in Uncharted 1 and 2 are far and above what the average "generic shooter" tries to do.

I don't believe the dialogue and plot were written by the same people. The gap in quality is far too large.
Movie's have far less dialogue and exposition, and they have a room of writers for something as retarded as an Adam Sandler movie.

The 3rd is the worst one, especially the first 3rd of the game.
I'd suggest you play 2, its dirt cheap nowadays and probably the quintesitail "cinematic action game", its probably one of the best examples of pacing in a video game (something 3 fucked up), theres combat and platforming and slower moments but its all balanced out so you're never doing the same thing for too long.
It also manages to have tons of enviromental variety without just jumping around across the world (another thing 3 did wrong), AND the level/visual design gets better and better all the way until the end, which is extremly rare in games because of rushed deadlines.
If you dont like the gameplay dont force yourself to play it, but Uncharted 2 is this genre what Mario 64 is to platformers.
Plus the multiplayer was awesome, but its probably dead now......

I replayed 1 as part of the collection recently and it's an alright game. It's just a fun silly adventure but the aiming is real rough. Has a horrible deadzone. I remember hating it when the PS3 version released but now I prefer 1 over 2.

I disagree on all counts. I think the gunplay was very satisfying, the characters and story were fantastic, and it was just fun. It hit all the right notes, had humor and genuine emotion and excitement. The villain was by far the best in the series and quite strong for games in general. I also found the setting and mythology of the treasure they were chasing to be really interesting. I suppose I should add that I'm Archaeologist irl, so all of the lore and history these games pack in interests me a lot.

I forgive most of 1's faults because it was the first one, like Crash 1 its really dated compared to the sequels but still has a certain charm to it.
3 shouldnt have been made, they were out of ideas, working on TLoU at the same time and were struglling to squeeze any more out of the ps3 (bonus skins and shit were cut because they ran out of RAM).
If ND had focused 100% on TLoU and then worked on Uncharted 4 (but it would be known as 3) it would be a great trilogy where each game was a massive step up from the previous one.
3 is ok, just kinda redundant and the story was written around the set-peices, and it shows.

I still dont get how Jak and Daxter did its seamless world.
In Dark Souls which does the same thing, but more interconnected, you can see the exact point it loads a new area/skybox because every area has some kind of tunnel between them.
Some part of J&D dont have that, you can look up at the sky and walk around through multiple areas without ever going through a convienat cave.

Z-targeting isn't auto aim in the traditional meaning of the word. It focuses the camera on the enemy while keeping the player on screen and is primarily designed for sword fighting. Auto aim centers the reticle of a weapon on the enemy while aiming. Also Link's arrows aren't hitscans and can miss even with Z-targeting.
