I believe your first story but not your second, I use UHC all the time on chugging faggotry in fight clubs and no one ever attacks me for it, they either join in or if it wears off then they all jump the chugging faggot. today too guys were dueling and a katfag kept chugging so I spammed them with UHC and the host gave me a divine blessing, another time today some mound maker I was dueling kept chugging, I through a UHC at him and fucked his shit up and got his health down to like 10-40hp right when the charm wore off and he chugged again and the host and the three other red phantoms immediately ganked him.

Estus is always fine during invasions. You need those shackles/ears/tongues/grass etc. so there's no need to hold back, especially for Darkmoons and Wolves.
Besides, drinking is great parry bait since your enemy will almost always immediately rush you to get a few hits in. It's at the point where I sometimes let myself get hit, heal and parry when he tries to interrupt.

I gave up trying on DS3 PvP man. I just strip naked and try fist fighting people. Its pretty amazing how many are good sports about it, strip as well and fist fight to the death. Most memorable was a guy in the way of the blue getting a blue summoned in to his rescue, the blue seeing this happen and then just stripping himself and me and the blue duked it out.
It also helps to have 60 vigor when doing this.

The swamp is pretty good. You'll encounter a LOT of people trying to get invaded on purpose though (gank squads) but in those cases if you wait you'll get backup very fast from Watchdogs.
Catacombs is active and is a lot of fun with the trap balls, arrow traps, bridge trap, etc.
Cathedral sucks because it's too easy to get lost and not be able to find your target and the enemies are generally too weak to help you much if they have a phantom (they always have a phantom)
Right before the Abyss Watchers is very active because people always ember up to get phantom help. The darkwraith bros will also help a lot

Fucking awful in everyway and once twinking got started it killed low-level invasions and discouraged so many newbs from getting into the pvp. DS2 handled it better in this regard.
But DS1 had some really shitstain ganks. There weren't any seeds (which basically outright screws invaders totally) but you had shit like TWoP and poise monsters and the fucking netcode.
In a couple of months the broken shit of DS3 should be patched. I only wish they'd provide more options for sippy punishing and more counters that and invader can use for ganks rather than relying on whether or not they're going to seed you.

Any time I get embered after beating a boss or trying to activate NPC invades there's always a fucking asshole invader 4 seconds afterwards. I can't go anywhere embered without being invaded. So now I put on Blueberry covenant when I do because I just want to go about my goddamn business without being constantly invaded.
In DaS 1+2 invades happened and I handled them as they came but it wasn't the constant stream of people like it is now. Even if I beat one guy I'll have another one come in right after anyway.

This happens so often I just don't ember if I'm not fighting a boss or know specifically there's an NPC invade in the area.
I haven't had too much trouble with gank squads invading as Aldrich Faithful. You can use the archers to create a lot of mayhem and often another Aldrich Faithful will join in.
