DoW1 has less detailed models and textures, but noisier textures for surface variety. DoW3 has more detailed models and textures, with surface variety being created by normal mapping. That means more detail for less work.
What you're taking offence with is the colour priorities. But those priorities mean a faster read of game elements; for example the shot here >>336388862 makes it clear which player has control of which barrier.

For those complaining about the models, zoom in on the commander and titan then on other units, the other ones are obviously unfinished and will be improved.
Because Games Workshop finally got the stick out of their ass about having full control of the IP and realized how much of a fucking mint they could make off of video games.
Only took them a decade after the success of DoW1 completely outdid every 40k and Fantasy game before it combined to realize this, but hey, better late than never.

Vermintide is pretty average, the quality is really lacking. Compare it to what we've seen of Deathwing and it looks like trash. It's got the quality of Age of Reckoning. Plus I feel like they've put themselves in a bit of a corner lore and gameplay wise. Primarily because it can only really be skaven you fight.
I would love it if they just made it a fantasy warhammer l4d where you can fight orks and be a chaos shitlord. Fuck just give me an updated Age of Reckoning, the universe has so much shit in it. They can't just pigeon-hole it into Empire vs Skaven.

For reference, last edition the wraithknight was a powerful unit in a powerful faction, and it received a lot of hate.
So they buffed its damage, doubled its durability, gave it the ability shot shit out instakilling AoE firepower, and gave it a fuck ton new cool bits, and made it cost like 1/4th more.
As an Eldar player, I am STILL mad I'm lumped in with faggots that bring 3 unpainted wraithknights to the table.

Also when you look at the models and compare them to the two previous games...they aren't actually bad.
The smaller models may look off, but models like the Imperial Knights look gorgeously.

Its based on the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay nigger. All the characters are from that.
Also skaven are an excellent (and underused) enemy, they've got hordes of small shits to kill but they also have a ton of interesting special units to mix things up. You're an idiot if you think Skaven are a bad enemy to choose.
Also Vermintide has some of the most satisfying melee combat I've ever seen. The heavy weapons have actual impact to them and the skaven ragdolls get sliced and flung in satisfying ways.
Would playing with video settings fix it?
Are they gonna start licensing out loads of Fantasy games as well?

Its a lot better with the shrine they added around Christmas, however at this point I'd suggest you wait until early summer when the "quests and contracts" patch comes which finally gives you a way to get guaranteed trinket and exotic weapon drops through completing challenges.
