get academy and then torrent the files for outcast and use a mod called JOA to load the outcast assets into Academy so you have both games on one.
Academy has the superior saber combat while outcast has the better campaign. The downside of the mod is that you can't use items which isn't that big of a deal except for the fact that the sections where you'd normally use your light amp goggles to see in dark places you now have to navigate by lightsaber light which isn't very bright or by just hugging walls and shit but there arent too many of those in the game.
Other than that the other issue is that some segments dont work like that 20 second low grav thing and some of the turret segments are screwy.
Anyone who decides to get republic commando just be advised that if you want the game to work on widescreen you're gonna need to put some serious effort into it and have a hex editor handy.
Game runs fantastically but that's one painful first step to get the fov right.
Otherwise you're just stretching out the render of the screen but the helmet hud will be in the center and look weird.
Dark Forces 2 is awesome but I literally cannot get it to work. Every time I hit escape to go into the menu the resolution changed to like 600x400 or something dreadful.

In Phantom Menace i spend most of the time cheating myself unlimited health and killing every single NPC in every single level.

Protip for any KOTOR virgins: Sentinel is the best class when it comes to experiencing all the world has to offer, because a lot of the shit you do is tied to persuasion, computer use, and repair. Starting with high charisma and putting points into persuade and tagging all three levels of empathy will make load-bearing story dialogue checks pass easily, same with gear head and repair/computer use, and a high repair means cheap droid reactivations, and activating ALL options on a disabled droid gives you a fuckton of XP beyond story-based repair events, same deal with computer use and all the terminals throughout, with a high level giving you addition console options beyond basic "unlock this" stuff
HK-47 also calls for a high repair skill in order to get additional story stuff in both games. In the first, a bunch of new dialogue is opened-up post-revelation if you fully-restore his memory before being captured, and in the second, talking to him about languages and how you're able to manipulate the HK vocabulator is tied to getting the good ending, since this dialogue path leads to the mission where you trace the source of the new HK units, and eventually his solo mission to the HK factory
The way buffs are handled means that you don't need to dump points into STR/DEX to survive, upping charisma increases the effectiveness of your force powers, buffs included, and maxing force valor, force speed, force barrier, force aura, and battle meditation (TSL) turns you into a Cuisinart around the time you go to the surface of Telos combined with flurry, and unlocking dominate mind as fast as possible makes persuasion a lot easier, as well as unlocking unique dialogue opportunities
Also, if you plan to go 100% lightsaber-centric in the first, don't pick any of the melee weapon feats, as those only apply to melee non-lightsaber weapons, and specific lightsaber feats open-up once you become a jedi, in TSL, just wait until you have a lightsaber before throwing points into it

There's really nothing beyond texture mods on Deadlystream, I use the level retextures for each game, and for TSL, there's one called A Darker Peragus that makes it look less-boring, and the high-poly tin cans mod for saber hilts, TSL is patched to work with AMD cards, but KOTOR isn't, and you have to disable soft shadows and framebuffer effects in kotor.ini to start it without crashing, but you really only just lose bloom
