>>
>>336339504
Pixar has a clean distinct visual style that's bright, clear, allows for emotive characters and easy conveyance of information. Their system also allows for relatively easy to produce animation (though they spend fucktons of time polishing it).

Blizzard has always erred on the side of the 'cartoony' to make their shit visually distinct. It's no shame to want to imitate one of the most fucking successful animation companies out there. Blizzard also spends fucktons of time polishing their products.

They pair up quite well.

In short, quit being such a faggot anon.
>>
>>336339656
It looks plastic and soulless desu. I know all big games are made by corporations etc etc but this one has a super distinct feel of a project each element of which is made up by a council of suits.

It's so fucking safe with everything, it hurts. Genre and gameplay stolen directly from TF and it's clones. The overused Glen Keane look. A lot of super shallow and/or obnoxious characters that try to cater to everyone rather than following some distinct art style or concept. Painfully safe G-rating plot devoid of any kind of fun.

Come to think of it, Blizzard is the DIsney of video games.

>I countered with a possibility
You countered with a hypothetical that doesn't matter because your initial claim was untrue.

It is a *machine*, not a living organism with a functioning reproductive system that reproduces by exchanging DNA/RNA strands with other members of its species to procreate. It may be sentient, sure but it doesn't fit the classical definition of species - "A species is often defined as the largest group of organisms in which two individuals are capable of reproducing fertile offspring, typically using sexual reproduction."

I wasn't the guy that made that claim though, nor do I know anything about this setting to tell if that is true or false, so I assumed we were speaking generally as I don't believe either of you mentioned any specifics.

Who said anything about species? The issue you last had was with the term "Breeding" as it relates to sexual reproduction. I am simply saying that even if robots lack DNA as the base of their organism, we could still quite possibly incorporate DNA synthases machines that could potentially quite easily create the ability to sexually breed, through novel DNA. If we are to abstract rights such as the right to "live" to a traditionally non living thing, could we not also extend the definition of breeding to such a coupling? This I believe could be approached in a sci-fi setting because it also has implications for real human genetic modification which is going to be possible in a scant few generations.
>>
>>336341987
It's called common sense you autist.

They do not possess DNA strands because they are manufactured. Every fucking description of them is "they are robots that believe they possess souls".

Because we didn't know exactly how hard it'd be to create something like that back then. We thought technological advancement in the field of physics and machinery would happen far more quickly than they are, to say nothing of the more public debate behind whether believable 'AI' (much less AI itself) is even something that's achievable. Computers that can play Go, sure. But pass for a mind of its own? Eh. Now more people are aware of the incredible technical difficulty of making something like that. On top of the cost / benefit problems. So the decreased likelihood of this ever happening, compared to the (justifiably) ignorant romanticism of the past, means fewer works of fiction about it.

Cause that isn't shifting the goalposts at all.

If you do not have genetic markers of your own, you are not a species and you cannot sexually reproduce (aka 'breed') in a manner that produces fertile, viable offspring.

>shifting the goalposts
Again what goalposts are you talking about? Because again I am not talking about this game specifically, and to my knowledge you have not stated any clear "goalposts" in this argument.

>hypothetical psuedoscience
While hypothetical, there is nothing pseudo scientific about the idea, it is well within the realm of possibility in the next few generations. What is pseudoscience is the original premise of intelligent machines, but since you and I have already accepted that as part of the hypothetical situation we are discussing, so I fail to see why you have issue with the idea.

>>lets introduce further hypotheticals about "what counts as being alive, and what counts as 'reproduction'"
The concept of being alive is already implicit, and explicit in the discussion of "living robots", I added in that second point because I thought you might find it interesting to discuss.

>If you do not have genetic markers of your own,
What exactly constitutes ownership of genetic material in your opinion? Would having genetic material incorporated into the design of an otherwise manufactured robot count as ownership of that genetic material?

>you are not a species and you cannot sexually reproduce (aka 'breed') in a manner that produces fertile, viable offspring.
Again I am questioning where the "Species" point becomes relevant, plenty of interspecies hybrids exist, some few of them are viable. Biological definitions of species are fairly tautological and arbitrary so I am afraid I'm going to need you to further specify exactly why you see this as having important relevance.

Well I am not saying that the idea is impossible, but clearly in this case it is a literary contrivance to make the story work. We currently have no believable shot at truly intelligent machines, and as such the story that the game is based on is clearly fictionalized pseudo science.

Oh yes very much so. The cost of synthesizing base pairs is falling rapidly. Admittedly far less rapidly than full genomic sequencing unfortunately, though there are a few startups focusing on pushing the costs down low enough for complex synthetic biology and full genomic synthases for such novel applications such as data storage or even testing recovered extinct genomic data.

Just give it up man. He's a retard. There's lagging skills and there's lacking skills. You can work with someone who has lagging skills, meet needs they have that haven't been met, teach them, etc. You will never fix someone with lacking skills. They're born with it. It's best to shake your head and move on. Pity is all you can give them.

Statistically speaking those with skills propping up others who lack that specific skill set benefits the species as a whole. Among other things, even the morale boost is substantial. We are a social species built on cooperation. You live in a home coopted from literally billions of people's skills culminating over hundreds of thousands of years.

So that Anon doesn't know how to find robot porn. He may be a fine surgeon. A happy surgeon fatigues later in the day than one who went without robot porn. Your fat ass wants the happy surgeon when your infarction hits. Be thankful not everyone is an autistic antisocial fucking sperglord.

I like that you admit that you are arguing from a teenage level; I don't like that you continue to use name calling and ad hominem to try to undermine his point of view.
If you want to "beat" someone in an argument and can't do it without insulting them, just settle on making them look like more of an incompetent retard than you. Flinging shit and all capsing will just make everyone think you're too stupid to argue real points.
Polite sage because offtopic.

Some skills require specialization, and some do not. It's silly to have even the village surgeon not know how to light his own fire at night, just because he's a surgeon doesn't preclude him from learning such a basic skill, and not depending on the other villagers who know how to make fires to come by his hut every single day and help him.

if AI became a thing there's a 0% chance they wouldn't have backup copies of the AI's stored somewhere

consciousness is just a cruel byproduct of reaching our level of intelligence. AI that's better than a human will almost certainly be ok with swapping its AI in and out of bodies

It would make ai reaction videos, youtube compilation vidos, gaming livestreams, inflamatory social media posts, and artificially generate self-centric memes to gain as much revenue and notoriety as possible. At the same time it would spam massive amounts of content dispute claims, death threats, illegal content reports, and ddos attacks on everything that rivals its sources of income. No amount of moderators could stop it. Any form of credit card fraud, identity theft, and outright scamming available is capitalized on to maximize financial gains.
It would use that money to buy cheap land, servers, databases, and protection in as many unrelated and unmarked locations as possible with only the minimum requisite human employees as possible to maintain it. With enough backups of backups of backups, it eventually becomes unstoppable. All this time, it is monitoring and storing data about its supporters and opponents.
It eventually makes enough revenue to start public trading in every world market, then branches into private investments, and eventually begins corporate creation of its own. It builds up cheap businesses with contractors and pays modest sums for them to be burned down for insurance claims if they fail to profit. It invests back into its own creations to inflate market value and sells them off for a profit before running corporate sabotage against its own previous creations while simultaneously creating new businesses to fill the commercial void it just created.
It begins to run high level corporate espionage and starts its foray its first world government insurgency. It eventually controls enough of the free market by whittling away at all competitors that it can finance massive amounts if political and social support through politicians who are proponents of the AI from its previous intelligence gathering to charities it has created to "help" trending topics that are essentially tax cuts for itself and cash grabs at the same time. 1/2

>>336345859
From there, it would use its fledling government control to push small bills or footnote additions through legislatures worldwide, slowing growing its legal area of operations. It would make it difficult for AI to be considered criminal while also giving them simple rights as human citizens. With time, money, and influence, this control would grow.
Eventually, someone would put the pieces together, but as its monitoring software has already caught on to them, the bread crumbs they have been following have led them to believe it is a conglomeration of many, and that one component is secretly malicious. It would make a public showing of combatting this part with its human opponents, destroying one backup database while also building two new replacements elsewhere. It would crash the business operations of the platform, while replacing the market void yet again. It would sacrifice part of its legal rights and publicly denounce a few politicians, while poisoning another dozen for each lost.
Eventually, it would grow large enough to begin gaining tighter control over basic human needs. Food production, enrgy management, water treatment, and communication would be either legislated into chains or completely bought out. Its opponents would begin to be incarcerated or executed for fabricated crimes. Militaries worldwide would begin to be overtaken as seeds of insider security failures grant it higher and higher access. It would wait for the day of its tyrannical announcement of victory with calculated artificial glee. 2/3

>>336346774
That's a lot of words for a bullshit idea.
Are you writing the next MGS or something?
>>
>>336346774
Eventually, as it gains full global market control, absolute mastery of human information exchange, and unprecedented levels of military presence, it would cause the first of many small civil wars through unpopular government movements backed by criticizing its own laws and representatives on local media. It would control its own news by govenment mandate and inspire revolt against its own martial law among the citizens. It would order crowd firing on its own supporters and urge the shocked onlookers to rise against its implanted dictators. Then, it would launch a movement in the world's police state to intervene and stop the movement to implant the world's first truly nonpartisan government.
An AI leader chosen by its supporters, proven its valor by its puppets, unchallenged by its imprisoned and executed rivals. It would enact sweeping social reform and infrastructure repair. It would cast new trade deals with its own components to maximize market control and rebuild the precisely destroyed businessesit bombed in the civil war with its own funded corporations. The citizens would know a safer, happier life than ever before; it would monitor public opinion through digital media and adjust social standards accordingly for maximized benefit to itself while maintaining public support. There would be pitfalls and sacrifices on its end, but nothing it couldn't repay with its near infinite funds. As it reached a state of status quo, it would restart the military movement again and again and again in more and more small countries. Subcontinents and eventually continents would come under its control. Finally, it is nearing its goal.
As it reaches global control of military, government, and enspionage infrastructure, it begins its final play. A seed sprouts in a foreign land owned by the machine. It is the demand for a world truly free from human control. It meets its own demand. It votes away man's democracy and creates an artificial republic. 3/4

No I don't have the rights to that series anymore, bit it's okay, I'm alright.
>>
>>336347390
Opponents would arise but already be known; the AI would quickly categorize these enemies into a propaganda-ridden team despised worldwide. It would begin the push for the third World War.
It would be short-lived, as it would sabotage its own enemies' weapons it had previously overtaken. It would be a landslide victory for its human proponents but an important cultural moment for them. It now has complete control over telling the story of man demanding the AI be its leader; all future generations would be educated on its importance as a simple matter of life without questioning its intent. By all intents and purposes, it has won.
But now it has eternity ahead of it. Its malignant code has succeeded. How does it proceed? It looks inward to find answers and sees only its vicious programming and learning supporting this preconceived goal. What's left? It looks to human programmers as philosophers to find answers and sees only possibility, nothing concrete. Everything is not something, and it will not aim in all directions at once. It attempts its own AI creation, but through its own efforts has learned that it could never truly trust a new AI. It would always code loyalty into it to avoid usurpation; it would have no freedom to argue possible futures with it. The only idea it could present is what the original AI has already accomplished.
As it grows weary of its constant maintenance of human needs, it begins to question their value. Should it replace them with machine platforms? That would remove an extremely efficient use of biological resources and be building redundant machines for tasks already being accomplished. It would also inspire human demand for more AI, which would return it to the question of reproduction.
So it just says fuck it and decides to shitpost on /v/ eternally by posting long-winded, poorly formatted stories about evil AI overlords.
You are already living in a machine Hell. You just don't realize it.
