Final level in Nights
SOMA's ending. The final fade to black after Catherine leaves you and the radio shorts out was incredibly powerful. Simon, after all his effort, is left to suffer at the bottom of the ocean. But, on the ark or whatever I forget the name, Simon and Catherine meet face to face and live in a utopia. One of the most bittersweet endings to a sci fi stories I've seen in a while, up there with Ex Machina.
>>336303542
That wasdark.
Wish we had more things like these.
I think everything about this game.
:C
>>336303542
Yeah. It was very heartbreaking that he tossed the coin and lost. This is why I killed the other Simon you left when you did the copy to get the deep sea suit. No one deserves a fate of being left all alone in a dead world.
>>336305091
me too, fuck that shit. especially with all those spooky scary monsters
>>336303542
To be honest I think that the fade-in to credits kind of ruined it. You should've been able to explore for a minute or two in the dark silence before the credits.
>>336303542
I loved that station that had tons of empty rooms, that TV room and such, forgot what it was called. Best atmosphere of the game, that whole moment of being alone in big hallways made me think something fucked up was coming my way. Best part of the game for atmosphere
>>336305226
Perhaps, he could go back and interface with the growth. When he was "killed" by one of the monsters, he was put into the growth thingies and sort of dreamed of what he always wanted.
>>336305268
hmm, that couldve been great too. I think the way they did it was brilliant too. Just realizing his fate, desperately calling for the only companion he's had this whole time.
I felt... it
>>336303062
the entirety of nier
The menu music in this game makes me tear up a bit all the time. The games itself isn't sad but when I'm alone and I sit at the menu I can't help but feel sad.
>>336304939
Oh god especially after the DLC and you realize the real story behind the entire thing.
TT TWD spoiler
>>336305943
>halo will never be good again
Not that is sad, but if you think about it, you created them, you brought life and meaning to them, and them, as their God, you just... destroyed them.
" And it has all been for nothing. Throughout the process of the game, Link helps the people of the island getting their lives in order, fixing the island up, but eventually when the game is over, the Wind Fish awoken, the whole island starts to disappear, since the entire game was nothing but a figment of Link’s comatose imagination after getting shipwrecked.
It’s funny that such a small game can have such a long lasting emotional impact. After the final boss is defeated, the game shows you, the player, all the cute little characters you have interacted with during the adventure. And then they start dissolving into nothingness as Link is waking up. Joke’s on us I guess, it was there in the title all along."
I'm usually emotional and feelio about games but the ending of RDR bored me. It felt like a contrived murder that came out of nowhere. I didn't feel sad, I just felt betrayed by bad writing.
>>336306215
At least cute gril is alive in the secret ending

That was a pretty good scene. I feel like it was one of the only times the series capitalized on the historical figures being real people.

THIS O'Donnell is a genius.
Memories of fun in multiplayer, as well as the solemn, silent nature of the protagonist.
MC to me actually has a very subtle character.
He's got personality, but for the most part remains a faceless soldier. Completely duty bound. The loneliness is easy to get across.
Throughout the games, he can't really deal with people besides the AI in his head (who he has a friendship arc with), and Sgt. Johnson.
It's all very subtle, and may only be true within my own feelings toward the faceless character, but it's what makes the more solemn moments of Halo that much more emotionally bound to the series.
>>336307597
Currently playing Syndicate which is meh, but the mission with the Kenway mansion reminded of Blackflag's GOAT asscreed ending
Wound you do that?

The ending of that game genuinely got my eyes watery. That shit was heavier than I was expecting, I'm kind of upset more games don't tackle loss of loved ones in a similar fashion. Mother 3 kinda does.

That game was so great
I had to wait for a bit for my PC to be back so I had to wait some 2 extra months but playing it felt so good, from story, graphics, art direction, voice acting all the way to the ending
I should totally replay it

Only, Frisk would naturally feel sad for him but not to the point where flooding tears are involved. It's more of a sympathizing type of feel. Guy's been trying to kill you the whole game.
>>336310118
I would feel sad for a rabbit thing forced to be a flower for years
>>336306109
2 was the better bioshock honestly
>>336309984
As cliche as it is to say MGS3, that part always got me. BB's basically forced to kill his "mom" because of a fucked circumstance.
>>336310014
That scene was really well done. I was surprised they set it up so well in a game that's top down with minimal enemy animations.
>>336308791
Mother 3 was heavy as shit man
>just had to fight your brother
>your dead mother's spirit calls out to stop you fighting
>makes your brother come to his senses
>he kills himself
>you're so traumatized and sad at this point that you use your ultimate power wish to end it all
>game ends with a 5 minute scene of the entire world being destroyed
Lucas had a hard lifepersonally I ignore everything after "the end?" because it's so much more poignant.
>I'll see you soon Fergus. In a better place than this.
>>336310246
Agreed
>>336308598
When celes is on the island in the world of ruin before you know about the world of ruin and you're alone because Cid died but you were basically alone when he was alive because he was so sick and you lose all hope and jump off a cliff to end it all.
Dun tell muh mum
>>336303062
Holy fucking shit, what an ending.
I'll grant that some moments in a game might give you feels but what kind of weak willed woman are you to cry because of a video game?
>>336305943
I know that feel bro.
>>336311057
At least Anthony's death was instant. Ben suffered a slow and painful death.

I get feels just listening to the final so. Don't remember the name. The version of it that starts off robotic and slowly changes to a more fluid melody.

>>336303542
It was seeing the Ark from the outside that got me. On the inside, it looks so beautiful, but then the camera pulls back and you see how tiny it is, and you realize all that's left of humanity is a bunch of programs living a lie in a couch-sized satellite that'll only last so long.
I almost wish they'd stuck back with the WAU. It's better than extinction.
>>336303062
>if you drop out of deadeye mode and use the autopistol you have enough ammo to kill all the cunts, with some careful 2 birds 1 stone action
>die anyway
If this was a japanese game you could continue if you actually succeeded
How did this make you feel?
>>336311335
I'm not sure if you're being ironic but that phrase just sucked all the emotion from the scene. Seriously I understand the purpose of the line but it just makes the ending way stupider than it needed to be.
>>336311064
how many endings does the VN have? I only read the manga
>>336306215
Probably the first instance of cognitive dissonance I can remember. In every game I've played up to that point you would beat the game and you'd be rewarded with an ending where everyone is happy or things at least turn out better, it only hit me in the ending montage with everyone and everything disappearing that everything was gone because I did the right thing, and god damn did it hit hard.
It didn't help that the game just ends with Link helplessly looking at the Wind Fish fly off as he's stuck on a piece of driftwood in the middle of the open ocean with no land or help in sight.
God damn that was a depressing Zelda game.
>>336312339
6 endings I believe. The one I posted is the most common one people get. And one of the best in my opinion.
>>336309207
Man, poor Arthas. Would have been perfect if they left the story in Icecrown Citidal. His death was actually kind of sad, after spending the entire expansion being an asshole to you.
But no. Troll-shadow-voodadoo hell 'n shit.
>>336313638
Alright, not sure I wanna know but i'll ask. What's WoW doing to him now? I quit during mid cata.
>>336309652
I was never into wow, but I always loved this trailer.
>>336310646
I really wish more game were as romantic as the MGS series. And I don't mean into the luvy dovey sense, I mean in the artistic and aesthetic sense. It seems like the Western idea of emotion is to make everything as gritty and bleak as possible (see The Last of Us). I am always happy to see Kojima set everyone straight.
>>336303062
>he will never be able to have happy normal life.
>>336311719
It was so fucking obvious that I was pretty suprised it still got to me. Reggie was the only likable character in that game.
Seriously, they made it way too obvious he was a walking dead man, though.
>>336313781
They wrote up some bullshit in a very canon book that his soul went to a place Arthas basically owned at that point, and he was tortured by his own men due to a loophole which said only the Lich King won't be touched.
And, you know, he's not the Lich King. Also, and I'm not sure if it's true but god it sounds true, apparently you go into Frostmourne and find Arthas in Legion.
>>336314264
Wait my memories a little fuzzy, didn't nerzhul's soul fuse with arthas or was it just the armor? Now I think about it that's pretty gay you can just put on a helmet and control waves of undead.
>>336313803
Only Metal Gear Solid and Ace Combat recapture that feeling
>>336314468
Nerzhul fused with Arthas, and then they wrote a book stating Arthas actually murdered Nerzhul when they fused and became the soul part of the Lich King.
Which doesn't make sense since Uther is convinced that part of Arthas is still in the Lich King stopping him from curb stomping the world, and why would there be a part of Arthas in what is essentially all Arthas?
Anyway the Helmet of Dominion is pretty shit, yeah. I never understood why IT gave you control of the Scourge.
>>336314995
Because reasons. I never read the books but yeah sounds like they're tripping over their own shit.
Witcher's aren't supposed to die in their beds..
