pikmin 3 was amazing but short, my god was it short
I like the first game best and think the changes made to the 2nd game complicate an already perfectly streamlined formula, does that make me weird? I didn't play the third because I never finished the second, and it took me like 14 years to feel like playing the second in the first place

It's the high concentrations of oxygen that kills the Koppaites, they breath oxygen too and Olimar is hocotatian, oxygen is pure poison to them (but weirdly, louie and olimar are ok breathing air in the Drake)

Who knows how much oxygen Hocotatians can handle without dying. Olimar mentions drinking water and sampling all the edible treasures in Pikmin 2, which must have water and, by extension, oxygen.

I actually kind of liked that about it.
With longer games I'm normally burned out and don't feel like playing any more by the time I get to the end, but with Pikmin 3 I ended up immediately starting a second playthrough and went through the whole game again. Blasting through the game really fast after getting to know it felt awesome.

Pikmin 2 was like the most mature game of the series: gore, bug-gina, "mature"(scientific) language in the piklopedia descriptions and it still managed to get E
pikmin 3 had literally child dialogue (the box even says that you should be over 3 years old to play it) and toned down violence and it got E+10
3 is my favourite in terms of gameplay, but I liked 1's story more - there was a much bigger feeling of urgency.
I'm not a fan of how 2 removed the time limit, and while 3 tried to fix it they really didn't do enough. I beat the game with over 60 spare bottles of juice. at the very least they should have added more difficulty settings - like each day takes three bottles instead of one.
I'm totally hyped for Pikmin 4, I'd love to see what they're doing with it.

Also, what amiibo support do you think Pikmin 4 could have?
Say what you want about Pikmin 2, but it has arguably one of the best and most challenging final bosses in any Nintendo game, assuming you don't abuse resets or read a guide beforehand.

Green Pikmin. They have a bigger leaf instead of a flower.
They're immune to gasses (from both enemies and environmental) and they can fan clouds of gas away with their big leaf heads.
Instead of attacking, they fan wind at enemies, which makes the move and attack slower

I'd rather they be immune to something like a toxic plant hazard. There could be a thorny gate covered in poison ivy or something and maybe a Pitcher Plant enemy. For their bud, it would be like a sundew and their flower could be something like a Venus flytrap

pikmin 3 was going to have 4 but after experimenting, miyamoto decided that 3 was the perfect number for pikmin, pikmin 4 will most likely be the same, it was never "2 leaders because second game, 3 because third"

It could be a bit much for single player but if there were 4 captains they could possibly make it so you can do 4-player couch co-op in the main story.

I believe somewhere it's mentioned that the pikmin just follow them around because of the glowing lights on their helmets.
You can also see evidence of them obeying the orders of anything that can make the whistling sound, because of that one creature from pikmin 2 that steals your troups
