If a run has version-specific bugs or strategies then that version is its own category, any category that doesn't specify version is always the most current version.
I.E. Dark Souls 2 has gigantic bugs in the unpatched version that lets you do the game in like 15 minutes, but the current version any% is like an hour, so runs are categorized based on unpatched vs. current patch.

Glitched runs are interesting if the runner understands why the glitches occur and can explain it, gives insight into the game engine and is quite interesting.

Depending on the rule set, they will use whatever game version helps the run the best. In an any% of course the runner will use the most broken patch available. There are most likely sets for with only the most updated version of the game as well though.
