TBOGT had some of the best mission but honestly, it just worked very well as a game. It had a lot of plot threads that it followed through well, it had a lot of characters, all who had their own character arcs and it was just generally a satisfying game.
Wish I could say the same for GTA V.
I'll all fucking honesty, a GTA with a Soulsborne-style multiplayer could work. Same core gameplay, but less of what the ending of what GTA V was, where you couldn't afford anything without assassinations and save scamming. Give naturally increasing wealth as the game progresses, bring back areas being locked, and a souls multiplayer, with drop in for co-op on missions and heists, and free roam, or "invasion", where you have to assassinate the player, or bring their car to point A or some sort of mid-mission invasion where they are basically a player controlled enemy, like during a car-chase or something

A great story, better graphics, animation, and world. Dynamic changes to buildings and or landscape. OPTIONAL realistic mode with lifelike damage and physics for character and cars. OPTIONAL infamy system that works as you would expect it to, without bribes to get out of trouble, but rather getting someone else to take the blame, like having to kill one of your friends and leaving him at the scene of a shootout to be found (detectives aren't too sharp) and to have this not be scripted but a choice you can make. In fact, multiple ways to complete missions in general. Simulation mode where you run a crime enterprise also part of the main game. Ways to build influence and control that goes beyond a checklist of things to take over/properties to buy.

GTA multiplayer would be way better if it were just Co-op, with a bit of souls-style PvP. The MMO-style open world where cash is impossible to get, and you need it for everything isn't fun. Honestly GTA Vs online should have been co-op single player, where each person controls a character.

Fun fact: Rockstar didn't want to do GTA:O. They were forced to by Take Two Interactive. Hopefully we won't have GTA6 ruined by a massive online component next time.
Another fun fact: Rockstar's Dan Houser recently had a huge falling out with Leslie Benzie, the guy who is essentially responsible for helping Rockstar get most of their games finished up for release because Rockstar is completely inept in regards to finishing shit on time for deadlines. Leslie was responsible for finally getting RDR wrapped up after it's developmental nightmare of being in limbo for many years.
