Strikers is shit, and a poorly balanced game. Robot team was broken as fuck, and captains were broken in general due to being able to auto score 2 hits with zero chance of doing anything to stop it.
Strikers charged, while unbalanced, was balanced by being completely unbalanced. Think in terms of melee, or Dota. The metagame that evolved from the poor AI of the goalies in that game is fucking insane. The best part is, that even though tricksters were pre-dominantly the best, shooter teams still had decent amount of chance to win as well.

Charged is objectively better than the first one simply because of all the complex tricks you can do that you actually have to practice to accomplish, which adds a whole new layer of metagame just like Melee did for Smash.
Just imagine a Mario Strikers as a debut title for the NX
It would be treated as a true full game with actual multiplayer with monthly events ala Splatoon

It's actually quite impressive how balanced it became by how broken the game was.
There are goal scoring tricks in the game that will score 100% of the time if you're good enough because the goalie AI is complete garbage, but it makes every match actually extremely dependent on skill because every trick is hard to do and are also risky because if you fail, chances are you won't be able to stop your opponent from doing a trick against you on his counter because the game is just that fast. It then becomes a game of mindgames and decision making like it was originally intended to be with all the standard one-button dekes and trickshots that the characters have.

You won't really find much about it because the game was grossly underappreciated and never got the wide recognition it deserved. You also won't really know about it unless you played online in the years 2007-2009ish when the game's meta online became crazy as fuck.
