I also don't like how you can't tell what is weak to what at a glance. In most games, flying things are weak to piercing or thrusting attacks and lightning, plants are weak to cutting attacks and fire, and slime-like enemies are weak to blunt attacks and ice. Even things that don't fall into that category can often be assessed for what they're weak to based on what they're called or how they look and what colour they are. SMT can feel like a guessing game most of the time because it does not follow these rules. New enemies that would otherwise be easy fuck you in the ass because you guess wrong. Even worse, they become incredibly easy, trite, and boring once you do know what to hit them with because of the game's huge focus on buffs.
