This excuse worked back in 2015 when they announced that they were delaying the game to 2016, but it's obvious as shit that the 2017 delay is solely for a simultaneous Wii U / NX release so that Nintendo can cater to their stock investors. They don't give a flying fuck about you or any other consumer.
Having a whole playable demo and an info dump at E3 already presupposes that they could easily have the game ready by the end of 2016 if they were really strict about getting it pushed. They care more about engaging in damage control though since their current system's sales performance is absolute garbage.

It's a problem because they just said that this is more or less the only big thing they have atm, and the only thing they're going to show at the E3 (marketer's) expo.
The date is too far away and there's nothing in between to build hype, so at this point people can't even build up excitement for it. Persona 5 has been doing the same thing, but there's games in between at least.

There's no such thing as "slightly delayed" They don't fucking say "okay the game's coming out a week from now." The date is known for months in-advance. And even then problems can be found after the game goes gold.
Promotional materials cost a goddamn lot to make and changing the date on them requires a lot of recall and information.
At a certain point you move from delay into development hell. I love the Zelda series, but I have less and less faith in Nintendo with every passing day. I don't even own a Wii U, and I've owned every Nintendo console since the NES. Nintendo is playing a very dangerous game, if they don't start pulling in new fans soon they're going to go the way of the comic book industry, propped up by a dwindling base of diehard 30-somethings who just can't let go.

The point is that the vast majority of great games we've played in past gens HAD deadlines. A deadline helps to motivate developers and also prevents project inflation; without one, teams typically run into roadblocks and problems left and right.

Why would I opt for #1? If the dev team delays it for at least a month, they can do much more bugtesting, which will invariably catch more game breaking stuff and therefore release a far better product. In Scenario 1, any patches that come out will only fix the immediate problems, since they just want to be done with it. All the while it'll take years just to fix bugs later in the game.

Game Pad tilt controls are the only way to control Link. Tilt it forward to walk, tilt it further to run, tilt it to the sides to turn, pulling it towards you does a backstep, pushing it forward does a roll. The left stick will not be used at all, and neither will the face buttons. Instead you'll hold ZR to enter combat mode, at which point Link will pull out his sword and become stationary, and then tilting the Game Pad in various directions will perform sword swipes according to the direction you tilted the controller. Holding ZL goes into first-person and brings up an aiming reticle, then you move the Game Pad around to aim your bow. Again, no buttons will be used to fire, instead you pull the game pad towards you to draw the bow string and push it away from you to fire.

The thing with LttP is it doesn't really have much personality to it or puzzles that are all that involved. Link's Awakening more or less started that, and then every other game in the series took after Link's Awakening in that quirky character design and personality and more puzzles to dungeons. Kinda makes LttP stand out as odd when every game after it shows what they really want for the series.
