PC gaming used to be good, now you're right. All people give a shit about is graphics and framerates, so all devs have to make is some polished turd of a graphical powerhouse game and people will praise it and/or buy into the hype.
I was an MMO player, and they used to be great, they used to have huge worlds where you could explore and immerse yourself in the story and lore of the game, and also the gameplay didnt hold your fucking hand every 2 seconds or spoon feed you free items because "mah subscription!"
SWTOR and GW2 was the nail in the coffin for the good MMO days, after that I stopped buying into the hype that an MMO can actually be good in modern gaming.

How exactly was it "just a slot machine" ? The raids had actual game mechanics and so did heroic dungeons. Also there was PvP which had high replay ability.
The point was to make the game long and raid fights would take weeks of progression in order to complete (because the fight was supposed to be a challenge) so as to make profit from subscription fees.
Now MMO's are about giving people free shit and having a billion micro transactions so people can skip leveling or buy flashy fucking mounts and tweet out stupid shit, because "tweeting and facebooking" is apparently "socializing".
