I like to help my mates from a distance killing problematic mobs that are attacking them and use the Clock to kill bosses. However, sometimes it happens that my team is busy with a Colossus at the other side of the map, and I cannot resist the temptation to pull the trigger and unleash a rain of funballs on their heads. You spread your cooldowns out so that you always have at least one up at any given point as a backup for when shit hits the fan.

Is HAN-D really that bad? I've been maining him and Loader primarily, and I have far more success with HAN-D than pretty much everyone else. Admittedly, he suffers a little bit in co-op, though.
If anything, I don't get how Mercenary is considered as good as he is. I get that he's untouchable but in my mind at least it takes a while to get him there.
