People complained for ages in Dark Souls I & II's release periods & after patches, they all had unbalanced shit. Usually each DLC release brings broken shit too that people complain about. Remember Dark Bead in DKS1? Borked. Like everything initially in Dark Souls 2? Borked. Ire Rapier? Borked. Red iron Winblade? Borked. Stone ring? Borked. Dark Souls 2 Lighting Spears? Borked.
Dark Souls PvP is usually never even balanced at the end of it's cycle. There is so much stuff in the game that if you dig into it you can always make builds that are like absolutely flawless compared to your average PvP build.
People outside of the community mostly praise it for it's single player only, as they touch PvP a single time and can't play it because they don't want to learn and fail, they just want to be good at it right away.
