Because this is basically the next phase of the consolization problem we've been dealing with for years, although I'm actually a bit optimistic here and think of it somewhat as a

sort of thing. The most obvious early issue with consoles was just that the PC didn't get a lot of console games at all. Happily, that's starting to go away. The next was that the version the PC got was an obvious port and a horrible one, and From themselves are a good example of that originally. That too though seems to be improving: yes, console ports still suffer from lowest-common-denominator syndrome in some ways compared to quality PC exclusive, but particularly on the current gen they've at least improved.
Now though we're starting to get more into the weeds of lower level differences, not just stuff like graphics or physics. Fundamentally a console is a locked closed appliance platform, and also has to deal with different limitations and use cases. That's resulted in developers having a different mindset towards things like the trusted-client issue vs what's required on the PC. None of this is new, but there are a lot of devs with bad habits (or simply different habits).
So hopefully that too will be next. From did a better job in basic ways with DS3 on the PC then before, it didn't require a fan to patch the thing just to get basic decently quality. Next time they'll need to learn about how to do proper client/server.
