This shit pisses me off. The fact that there's flat out no way to advance some questlines, get some gestures and items without having to trivialise a boss is just dumb as fuck.
Outside Pontiff you have to summon two of the fuckers because they give you gestures. I guess you can just die and do the fight again but it's just poorly thought out that there isn't any alternative way of getting that stuff. Same thing for NPC invaders to be honest, because you will miss them entirely if you beat an area boss.

Nah. If you summon you didn't beat shit. You can't compare any other self-imposed limitation to summoning. You're literally getting ANOTHER PLAYER CHARACTER to run around and interact with the world. Sorry. But no amount of justification will ever be enough to consider summoning anything less than just being bad and too scared to put yourself out there and get better.
