I need your help anons

I was gifted a Dell 8700 on Christmas. Seems like a nice PC but the Graphic card is complete trash for gaming.

I dont know much about computers but i heard GTX 970 should work but i am not entirely sure. I have also seen a lot of trash talking to NVIDIA products here...

What Card do you guys recommend? i have 400$ to spend.

Check your case size before you buy anything.

Dell cases are usually pretty crowded and not conducive to upgrades, especially graphics cards, and the power supply might not be strong enough to support the power needs for a new card. Do some research first before you figure out what you want to upgrade.

Start by checking the PSU, it's likely trash which will limit your options quite a bit, unless you replace that as well.

If you do upgrade, get an EVGA card. Get the regular FTW 970. The next line of Nvidia cards will be dropping in like 2 months, so you'll be covered by their Step Up program as well
>>
>>336049381
what cpu? no point in getting a powerful graphics card if your cpu is a pentium or some shit
>>
>>336049381
a 970 is fine

buy it from a local shop, try to put it in your case, if it doesn't fit find a smaller card

Not in my house right now, was actually thinking to go to the store after leaving my work place. Guess it is more complicated than what it seems.

Ill post the screenshot if the thread is still alive en 25 minutes.

>>
>>336051069

The I-7 (says on the web page) is a ''4th-gen Core i7-4790 quad-core processor''

Dont know about the DDR tough
>>
Buy it in a store so you can get a refund if it doesn't work
>>
Alright boys.
Best 980TI?
>>
>>336050820
1060 ti 1070 and 1080 are right around the corner. Expo showing em in 6 days.
>>
>>336054482
Why buy a $600 980ti when you can buy a $400 1070 with memory and more performance next month?
>>
>>336054614
I'm not buying it now, probably only around December or so. Need to save up still.
Been looking at 980ti because that way I won't have to upgrade my 600w PSU(was looking at a 390 before and somehow the 980ti uses less power)
>>
>>336054492

And how much time usually takes before i can buy them?
>>
>>336054721
Again, why would you spend more for less? Especially when you have so much time to save?

And you need that much time to save that little money? Whore yourself out Jesus that's pathetic
>>
>>336055047
I'm a university student and I don't work.
I just save up money.

I wasn't saying I'm hellbent on buying a 980ti, I was just saying that that's what I was looking at.
>>
>>336055047

Not that anon but not everybody lives in a decent country.

Back when i lived in Venezuela i used to make less than 20 bucks a month... so i can relate with the struggle.
>>
>>336055203
dude, just sell the prebuilt off hand, it wont be painfully obvious its gone for a while
then just build your own
>>
>>336055203
By that time a bunch of new shit will be out so just wait and see

>>336055294
If you're poor you should be focused on survival not fancy PC hardware
>>
>>336055354
It's not a prebuilt. I built it myself 6 years ago. Since then all I did was upgrade it to 8 GB of RAM.
I have an HD6950 currently.
