Is Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist for PS4 worth getting?
I saw it was on sale for $12 on the Playstation Store and it seemed kind of cool.

I've honestly never touched the online but the cards were up to date for the time of the game's release so it has pendulums and bullshit like that and the up-to-date banlist.
However if you play single player it's just a series of battles based on the anime and it goes through the whole shit, if you want to relive duelist kingdom with decks of that era you can just go right in and do that, it's pretty neat. Any single player game ignores the ban list so you can use whatever you want, even Pot of Greed.
I haven't kept up with yugioh much but I played this and enjoyed just beating the old characters. I did the tutorial for pendulums and just watched in anger as I had no idea what was happening but I summoned five bosses in one turn and attacked for a billion damage.

An update for it to add more cards is supposed to be coming out later on in the year. Right now you're stuck in the January 2015 format so there's a shit ton of new archetypes missing. It's plenty of fun but if you go online prepare to run into nothing but Dragon Rulers, Quasar shitters and the occasional newbie.
The new rules have completely baffled me to be honest.
I built what I thought was a really well-synergized Amazonian deck, and in my first match was destroyed in five turns by an XYZ deck.

Arc-V is about the interaction between 4 different dimensions whose defining characteristic is how each dimension plays card games.
The people from the fusion dimension want to somehow unite all 4 dimensions as one and are going to do so by razing the other 3 to ground, turning the entire populace of the other 3 dimensions into trading cards, and use 4 girls who are parallel versions of each other somehow to do so.
The protagonist also has 3 parallel versions of himself that are meant to be kept very far away from each other because they're apparently the splintered fragments of a god of destruction and anytime the god of destruction slips out it leads to a great time for everyone watching.
The 4 girls the Fusion people want are meant to keep them apart but since the Fusion people have basically captured them all now, if the protagonist and his 2 surviving dopplegangers(he already ate one) meet up together then it'll be a great time.

The Fusion Dimension is a parallel GX universe. As the Syncrho Dimension is a parallel 5DS, and the XYZ is a parallel Zexal.
They're similar but different. The major difference is that the protagonists of those series aren't present at all in these universes.
Card Games are involved because they have solid light projections that can make holograms tangible. Though it hasn't really been explained, it's safe to assume card games were chosen as a means to wage war because it basically standardizes everything so you don't have people just using their holograms to make nukes.
Also because it is a show meant to sell cards thus card games must be involved.
As I stated before, turning people into cards is part of some larger plan to unite all four dimensions. We haven't been told WHY turning people into cards is necessary yet, only that it is. Plus it's a way to remove people from the context of the narrative without actually murdering them because it's a kids show, just like how Pegasus stole Grandpa Moto's soul.
And yes that was Alexis. She and the THE ULTIMATE D were chosen to be the characters from GX to function as the representatives of that series since no protagonists allowed.
