W3 has a lot more quality side quests than Witcher 2.
W3 has way more fleshed out gameplay than Witcher 2 as well.

It is definitely not a game you should binge all at once. Play it at a good moderate amount. Game play is decent but not to varied. Sometimes enemies become repetitive.
Additionally, there is plenty of narrative and dialogue among the primary and secondary quest that can feel like a drag on if you're itching for combat. In saying so, I believe that they are very well done and keep you interested in the quest.
Points of interest in the game give some validity to the massive setting and are the primary reason for exploration.
Overall, really enjoying still.

these are bullshit, they don't show how frustrating the game actually is against bullshit AoE attacks. for instance , in deathmarch, fighting a cyclop is hell because all of his attacks are AoE. so in the end , even if he looks like he's punching you, a huge area around his fist will damage you and since on death march, two hits is generally enough to kill geralt, you'll get "punched" , stagger and then punched again in a fucking microsecond and there's nothing you can do about it.
beside, all the fights in the game will be the same exact thing : get your quen sign, lock the meanest target, hit him 3-4 time before he does his counter attack, dodge it, continue. do all this while parrying because the parry is automatic and small critter can't hurt you.
if you're playing against human NPC, equip Aard, use it , and then just one shot everyone in 10 second.
that's it ,you finished the game.
i might've died 10 times in the whole game on deathmarch, because of bullshit attacks you can't see coming like that boss guy who teleport, the djinn , cyclops, or the bugs that throw poison at you.
game isn't worth the price tag nor the hype it generated on combat alone, the story is pretty nice but the whole "waaa the war is terrible" theme get stale pretty quick.

AoE are bullshit, that's a fact. it's not about getting good since the game is easy, it's just that the game generally give you lots of way to deal with enemies but with AoE foes it's just rushing to the enemy, stabbing him 2 times, rolling back and throwing nades for 20 mins if you're fighting against an elemental/cyclop.

To Op, the combat does get a little tedious, but everything else carries this game so much it doesn't matter. Play the main story and the side quests that arc off of it, but don't get too caught up in the village quests or you'll get swallowed.
