The most bullshit secret was that underground level where the last screen had the falling ceiling and you had to fly to the left and find the key right next to the hole.
Probably the Fishin Boo level. There's too many good ones to choose one easily.

I only found that secret by virtue of my older cousin's friend. I always watched him play and learned from him. I swear, he had Nintendo Power. That or he was a wizard. Guy had some talent for vidya.
