Uncharted 2

I had just bought an Xbox 360 and RE:5, didn't give a fuck about games I thought I would (gears, Halo) and felt that nothing did it for me. Then I bought a PS3.

Got Uncharted 2 at launch, woke up early morning on my day off and started playing it. 12 hours later, without a real break, I beat it. Never marathoned like that. Never felt like I had a chance to put the controller down. GOTY.

People hate on it, but there is much brilliance there. Will do the same for Uncharted 4

Blame Michel.

He claims to care about the original IP he created, and then does nothing, nothing, nothing, NOTHING, for years and years.

It did give me a similar vibe to swinging around in Spiderman 2.

Other superhero sandboxes haven't really scratched that euphoria for me that comes with properly flinging yourself through the air and maneuvering up before smashing into a street lamp.

Simple platformer mechanics to explore some creative and funny ideas.
>>
>>335957570
Ubisoft never opposed the sequel's development.

Michel is just a perfectionist, and no build his team makes will ever be good enough.

5 years from now he will decide to only release the game for supercomputers, since only they could simulate the super realistic immersive environment he has in mind.

And 10 years from now he will make the statement about how not even supercomputers could run BG&E2, and that his perfect game is just too good for this world.

But being able to literally fall sideways and plummet off the edge of a phone booth is where the "Rush" of Gravity Rush comes in.

Undertale, for realsies.

I tried, I reaaaally tried but I had to stop, I felt it was WAY TOO open endend but also very unclear as to what to do or where to go, too much shit thrown at you the very first hours, felth stupidly overwelmed by it, even more than some MMOs.

Might pick it up this summer again I even had the CE and I loved Xenoblade Chronicles.

DLC comes with PS4 version only. It also has better controls, looks better, and it generally a better deal at this point than the Vita version. But if you REALLY value portability that much, it's still fine I suppose.

>>335955707
>>335955859
It looks good and I'm definitely interested in HLD. However that one video that talked about its framerate issues kinda put me off. And I'm definitely not someone that thinks every game need to be 60 fps, however with this kind of game, 60 fps would definitely be benifitable.
So, is it really that bad or is it just a small, overseeable flaw?

>>335957010
Great pick. It's a goddamn crime that this one is so under appreciated by the people that "matter". It's also my dad's favorite game and we replayed it at least 4 times. Everytime I tell him about what's new in gaming or about big conventions the first thing he asks me is if there's any news regarding a sequel to beyond. Fuck Michel for cockteasing all the time.

OT: My pick is La Mulana. About 2 years ago I grew increasingly bored of vidya until I stumbled upon this game. Everything about me rekindled my passion for video games. Like the feeling you get when you feel like you've seen it all and nothing gets you really hooked anymore and then suddenly you come across something that is so innovative yet somewhat familiar and it just clicks and it does everything right - It's a great feeling. And I'm not even ashamed to admit that I had to use a guide to finish it. I enjoyed it regardless. I'm really looking forward to see if the successor will be able to come close.

I used to be of the opinion that stories in games needed to take a backseat, and that having more cutscences and exposition than, say, LoZ: Windwaker was really obnoxious and dull. Stories could be thrust briefly in your face to contextualize your progress in the game, or they could be presented more passively like in Elder Scrolls games where it's optional and that was fine. Anything more became drudgery, the 3d Final Fantasy games I've tried were especially excruciating.

PS:T was the first time that I found the plot to be a true delight. I was shocked that a game could convey a story so well and that PS:T actually lived up to it's reputation (despite its clunky and frustrating combat).

It can't be understated how special it is to get a game with the only knowledge you have of it being "it's a cool rpg."
You used to never know anything about games beyond what screenshots you might see in a magazine, so to recapture that unknown with a video game is unbeatable... when the game is cool.
