Marvel vs Capcom 3 handled this well. If you disconnect it counts as a loss. Disconnect too many times and you get put into "ragequit hell" where you get matched up against other ragequitters. Stop ragequitting and you'll eventually get put back into the regular matchmaking pool.
Also whenever they roll out a patch, the matchmaking servers are down for like ten hours. What the fuck? That NEVER happened for any of their earlier fighting games.
They had this shit on lockdown in 2011, but in SF5 for some reason they cannot get their shit together. I don't understand.
