Good soundtrack, good characters, all around good game

gameplay is surprisingly entertaining for how spread out it is, like a bullet hell light, would probably be most at home on a ds
has some traits of an explorer game like yume nikki, which is 100% make or break depending on your tastes
story is the first one that got to me in a while, threw around some depth while still being objective
forced gay and weeb culture was a little annoying, but solid writing made it tolerable
feels like what it is, a save the day simulator by someone that worked on homestuck
talking to anyone or reading anything about it is a mistake, but that's the case with anything that brushes with furry
4/5, would not recommend

I think the game comes down if you don't actually like the characters, since EVERYTHING revolves around them and the story.
If you don't give a shit about it, the game is done, since even the meta message of leveling up and killing monsters looses it's purpose if you don't connect with the characters themselves.
The gameplay gets a little monotonous when you're left to explore the world with nothing new happening, it's always the main characters or the overworld NPCs that break the monotony of going down the halls fighting the same enemies over and over, they're what keeps the player going forward.
Fanbase outside of 4chin is absolute cancer because it's mostly home stuck runoff
Game itself is decent, short, a little demanding when it comes to the true or genocide routes, but not particularly difficult or too painfully repetitive otherwise. Humor and aesthetics are sort of caught between a few decades worth of nickelodeon cartoons, the mettaton chapter can be a bit of a bore for some thanks to it.
Music is great. Graphics are pixelshit.
