It's a mid-generation launch like the Dreamcast and it's missing the crucial holiday release date to build up a substantial initial user base.
That and the secrecy is worrying. Part of the mass appeal of the wii was the control method that caught peoples attention. If they had something like that that the believed was worth hyping, they'd be doing it already.
The concept is pretty easy:
They are gong to release a handheld and a home console he same day.
One is the Stationary NX on is the portable Nx. They both have the same library , so both get the games. There will be no software drough like 3Ds and Wii U had because merging all their teams they are going to output exclusives on monthly basis for both consoles

Probably something like the difference between running Hyrule Warriors on the Wii U and running it on the 3ds: there'll be some sort of performance compromise for having it on the portable vs all the bells and whistles for having it on the 'main' console.
The problem is that this heads straight into the problem people had with the Wii U with people assuming the tablet was the main console or an accessory.
Maybe they'll do the Neo Geo thing and have the portable console plug into the larger one?

The portable would have 540p screen(s) and the home would render 1080p (which is 540p*2).
I guess the portable would have lower graphical detail as well. Say Wii U graphics on the portable and PS4 graphics on the home.

The console will be x86.The portable will be ARM. You can't do x86 reliably on a small portable device due to power comsuption and heat. They won't run each other's games, they'd have to be ported over. Also devs don't want to test and develop their games on TWO platforms if they're going to release one version. It's stupid.

The difference could be
Lower resolution ( wouldnt be surprised if Nintendo sticks to 720p in their new handheld ) That alone would be icredible less power consuming compared to 1080p
Lower framerate
No AA
Every other option you have unlocked if you have a better GPU
