All the other anons are on-point about how fucked up they did porting the levels to nuDoom, but I wanna jump on this point too. Doom 1 (Not even Ultimate Doom, just vanilla-ass Doom 1) has 24 maps if you don't count the secret levels. I would be surprised if nuDoom has 24 maps of unlocking.

haven't checked out this game at all before watching this. definitely more arcade style than I expected... looks like the original doom games but with updated graphics. it's a far cry from the survival horror style they went with for Doom 3. doesn't look like you'll be slowly creeping through dark hallways with a flashlight and coming across spooky audio tapes in this one. honestly I would have enjoyed something like that a lot more I think.

Doom 3 after you get 2 hours into the game and RoE right off the bat are pretty hectic and crazy with alot of the classic level design with keycards, secrets, moving walls and "smart" backtracking via shortcuts actually. It's an FPS with the design ethos of a SHMUP/Bullet hell game, the emphasis is on dodging projectiles while dispatching foes, only from a first person POV.

Kind of, it's not very efficient to use your rocket launcher on a lone Zombie-man for example, but there's generally enough ammo lying around to let you use whatever you want.

Also, every map in the original doom was designed so you could beat it by starting with only a pistol.

On the original nightmare difficulty enemies would respawn constantly, the game had a quick save system, I don't remember if it autosaved between levels originally or not, in either case, no real checkpoints.

At the same time, you could beat most original doom levels in like 2 or 3 minutes so there was no need for checkpoints, there were parts in certain levels where demons would teleport in and attack you in waves as well.

He's not though, I think at most I saw 3 on screen. I like how the pinky just kinda flexes it's muscles after each attack so you can kill it without worrying too much about it... doing anything. I really like how the weapon switching takes you out of the gameplay, and ruins the combat pacing completely so you can take your time to navigate a clunky menu optimized for consoles.

Apparently speed is upgradeable, but it still needs a turbo button. The walking at the beginning was infuriating to watch.

Yeah, just divorce the multiplayer from it entirely, make it faster, make enemies more aggressive (I see that they're already as agile as the player, very good, even Doom 1 and 2 didn't have that) and it's fine. Pretty good soundtrack.

Better than Doom 2/3 already. But then I've got a chip on my shoulder about the former.
