The best idea when moving from character to character when you first start out is switching to people who are similar. Going from Ryu, in my personal opinion, I think Ken, Necalli, and Cammy would all be good characters for branching out. They're similar, but all have their differences.

Agreed. Makes me curious about what next year's balance patch will look like. The only grappler faring decently in the competitive scene is Mika due to being a monster in the corner. I've never seen what a top-tier grappler looks like outside of Raiden from the arcade release of KoFXIII, but I guess Mika is as close as we'll get for now. Poor Alex, first your game gets fucked over, then your frame data, then your character model, then your return to SFV, and now your tier-placement. Alex has had a hard life.
