Left. Played Xenoblade with barely any grinding at the late game, the boss fights were pretty damn fun for how tough it was.
Fuck grinding in that game anyway.
Also playing DaS3 with 10 Vigor on my first run. Feels pretty satisfying to kill bosses this way, but it can be frustrating to get one shotted by normal mobs.

Always play at the lowest level possible if you enjoy the gameplay. I appreciate tactical depth and levelling up trivializes a lot of the challenge.
I like to grind in jRPGs. It is a big part of the appeal for me, and the reason I mostly stopped playing them is that grinding is heavily discouraged these days.

For a first playthrough, I go the Kyoko route. It's far more fun to experience the game at the intended level, so that you have a challenging but fun adventure.
For the second playthough, Yui's method is the way to go. I've already experienced the game it was intended to be played, now I want to stomp the ever loving fuck out of it.

This way I can keep the difficulty in the just right spot trough the whole game.
I loved Bravely Default for how much it let me customize how battles, exp, gold and job points were distributed. One of my friends complained that the game was too easy and that she just auto battled trough everything. Turned out she kept encounter at +100% which mean she battled 2x many times, essentially getting 2x amount the exp. this in turned meant that enemies were piss easy. I however kept the encounters at 50% and all the fights felt like a challenge. Even more so because I didn't upgrade my equipment when absolutely necessary. And I loved it that way. I rather take few more meaningful battles than many meaningless.

I agree with both. Usually I challenge the boss right away even if I'm not sure if I can win. If I lose, then I go back and grind like crazy until I can beat it effortlessly, both to save myself the frustration of trying again and again, and for the satisfaction of wiping the floor with a boss that I previously stood no chance against.
