obviously it depends on the context of the game but even if there's no NG+ it CAN have uses if the game didn't lock you up in the final boss area or something. For example, you can use it for autismo pursuits like damage calcs (because higher numbers are easier to tell minor enhancements like trying to figure out of attack boosts stack and HOW they stack i.e. are they multiplicative or additive)
They can also be used for any outstanding quests that were simply to much of a bother to do in the normal progression of the game like a long series of monster slaying quests that you COULD do at an earlier level and with weaker equipment but didn't bother with because it wasn't fun and you just want to smash through it
Or it could simply be for the satisfaction of seeing fuckhuge numbers when you attack end game enemies.
I'm not trying to defend the lack of NG+ in games, it always is better to have one than not, but just the same I'd rather receive a trophy weapon like that from a super boss than receive nothing at all

I don't understand the point. You've already beaten every level, so there's no reason to replay them. What's the point of 99 lives if there's no longer any reason to lose a life? Platformers have replayability, but that's only if you start over from the very beginning and do it all over again.
100%ing the game should give you something special as an extra. Maybe a secret ending, a cheat menu, a new bizarre item with crazy uses, a concept art gallery, an audio room, a new secret area that you can explore but serves no real purpose, medals or special additions to the title screen, etc.
And that should carry over into a new file so you can replay the game with all kinds of neat bonuses.
