Why is this still a thing in JRPG? What is the point of having a huge number of cast members if you can't use them all?
For me, having such a large amount of party members encouraged later playthroughs where I used the ones that I didn't before.
It adds to replayability and allows you to keep things fresh in a single play through by letting you change sets/groups of party members.

Honestly feels "like" an archaic method in game design. Neptunia does it kinda right but it is still shit since you can't have all your characters on the screen.
