MonolithSoft is talented, and they had enormous backing from the big N. Basically an unlimited budget. Just look at the number of composers the game had.
Square Enix was coming off of bloody murder of Sakaguchi, and Uemetsu abandoned ship a year later. They passed the development of FFXII onto the FF Tactics duo, but fired the director mid-development.
Xenoblade was a groundbreaking triumph for JRPGs. FFXII was an unsteady step forward for a franchise about to receive its death sentence.

That's fine. But the thing about console generations and definitions of words is that they have a distinct meaning, which means that one person's interpretation can be wrong and another's can be correct.
The definition 6th generation are consoles released after 2005 but before the 2012 release of the Wii U. You can dislike that, but it doesn't matter. You can disagree with that, but it just makes you wrong.

Xeno had more engaging combat but FFXII had side content worth playing.
Both games had great settings, XII more realistic and grounded and Xeno more grand and high fantasy.
Story wise i really liked both for different reasons, Xeno was pretty anime in a good way while XII scratched the same itch wrpgs usually do with lots of political stuff added.
VO in both is great, although XII wins for me due to the top tier translation.
Graphically XII wins with more detailed texture work and great armor designs, Xeno's artstyle is pretty good as well but i feel like it's held back a lot more on wii than XII was on ps2 with muddy textures everywhere.
Honestly though the last thing we need is shitposting and flamewars over these 2 games, since anyone that likes 1 of them should be encouraged to try the other.
