Dwarf Fortress is a single-man project that's been developed for 10 years, an he has let no one access to the source code. From his news postings I am getting increasingly worried that the code is so spaghetti even he doesn't understand it at this point.
If an important Nintendo or EA or Bethesda employee dies, there's a huge team that can pick up the pieces. If Toady dies, Dwarf Fortress is done.
