He is literally impossible. In every fucking sense of the word, this boss is impossible. There is absolutely no way to refute him being possible to beat. I have absolutely no idea why Miyazaki thought that inserting a thematically impossible boss fight into his game was a good idea but he literally did it. This should not have been allowed. There should be legal repercussions for inserting a boss halfway through the game that cannot lose. He literally, figuratively, objectively robbed us of half his game. This was false advertising in every sense of the word, instead of a fun and challenging video game we got something that is literally impossible to progress in because this one boss has no weaknesses, no way to counter it, no mercy at all. How was this allowed to happen?

They really should have some optional bosses that require co-op. Nothing required to beat the actual game, but something you definitely should summon for. I never summon because it feels cheap and robs you of any real challenge. They're meant to be fought by you, they should make some optional ones that are different.

2. If you're bad at dodging, just pick a shield with magic/fire defense, or even two of them to switch between

He's not that hard. Even without parries his only really tough move in the first phase is his 360 tracking 10 hit wombo combo and he pretty much never does it. During the second phase the first 10 seconds are basically nothing but free hits, if you can't manage to knock off half his HP in 10 seconds when he's just standing still, go upgrade your weapon or your stamina.

He's just not that bad. He's easy to parry. The shadow makes things annoying but he's super easy to dodge. I don't think any DS3 boss is that challenging. DS3 has the most OP rolling of any game. At like 30 end I think I could do 11 consecutive rolls and the thing about rolling in this is that there isn't a brief pause between like in 1 and 2. If you say any of these bosses are hard you've already outed yourself as someone new to the souls series.

But it works great for him. I've blocked most of his normal swings with a regular shield that didn't even have 100% physical reduction. If anything, I had been two-handing and dodging up to that point and he was the boss who made me go "Alright, maybe I should use a shield."
Pontiff is a cool as fuck fight

I think it did about 300 damage, plus another 100 if she stuck around in the pool it left. There's no way I could've ever finished the fight without it. Also, if you throw two orbs at Sulyvahn when he starts making his clone, it'll damage both him and the clone, often killing it before it even gets a chance to fight.

I don't know if the Lloyd's Ring bonus applies to pyromancy, but I felt like it did so I kept it. Havel's let me use stronger armor so I didn't get 1-shot by literally everything, the witch's ring boosted my pyromancy damage by 10%, and the Deep Ring is required to wield Chaos Orb since it needs 2 attunement slots.
