There was just consistent disapproval for the realistic style I was using to depict the character, or that I simply drew a face not as attractive as anyone would have wanted. The OR never made himself apparent with a comment of pleasure, so I just assumed ones of the critics was him, unwilling to appear unappreciative of the work I was putting in.
I figured I could better fill his request this way instead, as you noted. If he points out that he wants it finished, though, I'll oblige. It was a fun piece to work on.

I think the easiest and "cheap" way to do a good anime/realistic transposition is to use asian traits. You could study some asian faces. I mean, I am assuming anime lovers might like more asian girls than wester ones.

There was never and has never been disapproval of realistic styles here, you always mention this shit here. Learn the difference between "looks bad" and realism. if there was some kind of complaining with that particular image its that the droops under her eyes makes he look like she middle aged, thats not good looking. The complaint isnt that its realistic, its that it doesnt look attractive, there is a distinct difference between the two. Realism does not mean you have to make the character look years past their use by date.
Now dont get me wrong, Im not having a go at you, its hard doing anime to realism, but dont pass this off on realism being the issue, If ever in doubt for drawing anime to realism, find a photo of an actual face you think the character should have and riff off it.
