I am Andrew Ryan, and I'm here to ask you a question.
Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?

"No," says the man in Washington, "it belongs to the poor."
"No," says the man in the Vatican, "it belongs to God."
"No," says the man in Moscow, "it belongs to everyone."

I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different.
I chose the impossible.
I chose... Bioshock Thread.

This game is good.

Electro bolt is the best plasmid.
Prove me wrong
Pro tip; you can't
>>
Great setting but it could have worked more as an RPG. The railroading really was annoying.
>>
>>335121978
>not using bees
>not freezing niggas and using wrench tonics

Electro bolt is on par with the plasmids that control enemies, scrub.
>>
>>335122140
>bees
My brother of African decent

Electro bolt is the most useful though and it's satisfying to cartoon shock someone and break their skull with a wrench.
>>
>>335122279
you know what, i'll give you that.

if you use wrench tonics.
>>
>>335121978
only from 2 onwards where you should stunlock enemies

SS2>Bioshock 2>Minerva's Den>Bioshock 1>SS1

So I never finished the first Bioshock and never played the second at all, but yesterday I read that Bioshock 2 was inspired by Peter Watts' books which I thought were pretty neat. Does anyone know more about that?

Then you admit that you're responding to bait.

So 1 or 2 /v/? I liked 2 as a whole better for its game play. Just fucking used the drill all day everyday.

But the story in 1 is compelling as fuck, 2s just felt like some shit they made up as an excuse to warrant a sequel, though i'm glad they did.
>>
>>335122842
How so?
Are you basing this just off Infinite?
It sounds like you've never played 1 or 2.
>>
>>335121858
should I even buy the 2nd one?

i loved the 1st one. it was one of my top 3 first-person shooters i have ever played.

Actually I ONLY played 1 and 2, you presumptuous faggot.

Bio2 is great.
Bio3 is shit.

Then you've just confirmed your shittaste.

Wasn't irrational supposed to release a game called black hand or something?

would you guys like a Bioshock game taking place in a claustrophobic coal mine setting?

you get to keep the big daddy with power drill
you get to have little sisters initially being child workers getting inside tight crawl spaces
your default melee weapon is a pickaxe
you get to kill workers and other employees who have been driven insane

I guarantee you that my appreciation for the artforms available to us on this sphere is far, far more prosaic than your own.

sounds kinda like penumbra
atmosphere wise I mean

Play System shock 2 and you'll understand, kid.
>>
>>335122950
2 story is equal to 1 because it has more feels, bro tier characters and the neutral ending is sad as fuck. Bio 1 story goes to shit after Ryan takes the club and the tweeest.
2 gameplay is superior. It has the small choices too which I liked. I still don't know if I did the right thing with Alexander.
Music and atmosphere is cool in both, but boshock 2 could be seen as a rehash I guess.
Imo 2 is better, but yeah.
>>
>>335123673
Again, assuming that I haven't.
>>
>>335122595
You can't because Bioshock is beat-by-beat a copy of SS2.

I loved the first two games. Absolutely LOVED. and I hate shooters. I'm more of a arcade/fighting game kind of guy. but I never played Infinite. Looked like shit.

Was I wrong? Should I finally try it, now that "the dust has settled."
>>
>>335123465
You're also still waiting for someone to care about why you think Bioshock is crappy.

You don't like a thing other people like. That's okay, Anon. It's fine.
>>
>>335123978
if you hate shooters, no.
It's cod with a skin on it and a 'so deep' twist
>>
>>335123978
Was it your first contact with story in FPS? Because that's a big part in what made Bioshock boom - because it was got a lot of dudebros playing.
>>
>>335123978
Well, if you are cuious about it you can drop ten dollars. It's pretty bad and I played worst games in my life but they just made some horrible choices. Not even talking about the story. There's no bosses in this game, there's no fun enemies to fight, you just run straight shooting idiots with guns the whole time. There's an attempt to make a big daddy-like guy but there's like three of them in the game and they are underwhelming as fuck. There's a boss that only calls forward more idiots with guns. Then there's songbird. Fuck them for that. Nevermind what I said don't buy it, pirate it.
>>
>>335122595
Didn't Infinite actually tank and lead to team's dismissal? Which is weird considering the hype they built for it.
>>
>>335124794
Yes, Irrational games closed down. I don't gt it either, I thought that it was a hit but I won't cry for them exactly.

The factory owner invested in the factory and the materials and is taking a risk by doing so, the profits are his reward. The worker doesnt want to take risk and chooses to be employed and therefore doesnt share in the profits like the capitalist.
>>
>>335125732
>chooses to be employed
There is no choice you retard.
>>
>>335123230
Prosaic is relating to text that, and is in diametrical opposition to poetry. Another definition is something mundane. You should not use words you don't understand in your fraudulent posts, and if you do, please look them up first, my dear anon
>>
>>335125732
Yeah and when the factory owner is big enough he receives a government bailout.
>>
>>335126278
Chooses to be employed instead of starting a business himself. You are one of those guys who will claim nature is oppressing them if the only option is hunting for food if you lived in caveman times.
>>
>>335126650
In caveman times you could make your own living by hunting in the woods and you didn't need to be anyone's slave. In these days the system is set up so you can't.
>>
>>335126650
If everyone started a business our current economy would come to a breakdown as the market would be overcrowded with demanders and suppliers, the only people profitting would be middleman who do not work at all.

Jesus fucking christ, anon. How many fucking words are you going to misuse? Reactionary has nothing to do with people reacting or any reaction for that matter, but is defined by something in the past, and the word is attached to people who seek to return to old ways or the way things were before

It occurs to me that you wish to appear like an intellectual. remember, being understandable and concise is infinitely more valuable. Intellect shows not through words, but the content behind them
>>
>>335128090
Finally, some words you can use, and how very prosaic it was

Yes he, is, and he decides for whom he sweats. if he invest in shitty skills he'll get less from it.
>>
>>335132543
if everyone started their own factory, factory workers would be scarce, therefore they'll get a bigger compensation for their literally meaningless and replaceable job.
>>
>>335133107
That's the crux of the philosophy, isn't it. Extraordinary men should not be held down by lesser people, they should not be restricted by some governing body or an obligation to people whom they don't care about. Never read any of Ayn Rand's books, So I may be wrong
>>
>>335121858
Bioshock 1 would be perfect if not for the shit escort mission at the end of the game

>>335129665

forgot bioshock 2: communism is bad

it just goes to show that levine has no talent
>>
>>335133337
>That's the cruz of the philosophy

No, it is not.
It condemns altruism as a self destructive doctrine imposed by religions and states in which it seems it's morally right for you to lose something everytime another person ears something. And that vision of the world is purely materialistic.

Ayn Rand is about self interest. And how humans should consider the self interest of others that's what her 'selfishness' is all about.

So if let's say you worked hard to own a house and then the government decides you are well off enough to buy another one so they'll take it from you to give it to someone poor.

The altruistic/collectivist view of society condemns you if you think the deal is unfair because it is only possible for people to get better at the sacrifice of those who worked hard to get legacy of their work. The combination of his efforts through his free will and his life that make his property.

according to collectivist blind materialist there's no self interest involved when a person gives a coin to a homeless person. The only self interest being considered is that of the homeless man because this altruistic person made the ultimate sacrifice by giving a portion of his earnings to someone who needs it more. According to Ayn rand, both persons's self interests is taken in mind. Because the man lost something he valued less (money) and earned something he valued more (the satisfaction of helping somebody) so his choice in helping another person was entirely motivated by selfishness and that's a virtuous thing to do according to Rand.

Can someone explain to me why Minvera's Den is so highly rated? I played through the second game and MD and to me, it was more or less the same, like the second game, which I wasn't a big fan to begin with. Story was kinda cool tho.
>>
>>335134027
A sensible view, by my sentiment. Thanks for the clarification, anon
>>
>>335134049
That's exactly it - the story was cool
>>
>>335134049
because the drama felt more real. Because C.M. Porter`s voice actor did an incredible job. I`d give points for the black room with the green equations or whatever. It was perfectly done and it fit the narrative.

and because we all feel we lost the love of our life
>>
>>335134049

it's a self contained story with tight gameplay
