The one in the Farron keep dropped a ring and those in Ashen lake drop fucking titanite shards like the most basic enemies there. Fucking useless.

If you have a fast weapon, then you're fine. Just don't get greedy- they're surprisingly fast. If you've got a greatsword or use sorcery, get the fuck out of there.
The curse spiders are far worse.
Stay in front of it at all times, when it tries attacking you roll forward so you end up behind it
hit it a few times and run in front of it again
