The inputs on the top screen aren't really accurate to the timing of the presses you have to do. Play by ear and not by eye I guess.

It takes practice but once you get it, it's easy. Hit the button as soon as the PaRappa icon's hat touches the button prompt, rather than hitting the button when the center of the icon reaches the center of the button prompt.

I don't know. I'm having teh same problems with Umjammer lammy right now.
Sometimes I can just randomly press buttons and it lets me through but pitch perfect button presses and hitting the right keys puts me in the bad zone for some reason.

Ps2 gitaroo msn runs at 60 fps while psp runs at 30 fps. Psp has some bonus content but nothing phenomenal. Really your call.
