They also have nothing else that sells; Souls makes them fucking rich. I don't care what Miyazaki says. There are obviously gonna be more Souls-likes. They'll probably make more one offs like BB or Demon's Souls, or even sequels to those or a new trilogy series, but I think the point was that the Dark Souls story line is done, not that Souls-likes were done.
I personally think the Dark Souls storyline has more room to grow too, but I can respect an artist's decision to complete his work. We'll see if Miyazaki can maintain that integrity in the face of industry pressure, or if he'll cave like Kojima did.
I think the difference is that Miyazaki has the game design talent to succeed outside this one successful franchise, whereas Kojima was a one hit wonder with no prospects or ideas left.

I haven't played DaS3 yet but I find DaS1 very easy. You can easily roll through attacks and backstab almost anything, chain backstab, too, when you're simply not just parrying everything.
Also DaS3 is like BB in that bosses have multiple stages. That's not in DaS1. Again if DaS3 is like BB, then they also have many many more attacks and patterns, probably more aggressive too, unlike DaS1.
I think going from DaS3 to DaS1, you'll find DaS1 much easier, especially since DaS3 is mostly made for souls veteran that have seen it all.

Not really. It's the highest selling Souls game on a single platform (DaS3 will probably outpace it though). As in sold more than DaS1 did on each of PC, XBox and PC.
