With today's increasingly casualized gaming environment, there comes a time when people just want to play an actually difficult and thought-provoking game.
>>
games autists enjoy
>>
>>335003559
I just don't want my hand holded the whole fucking time I'm trying to play a game

And atleast this game doesn't have any tumblr landwhales

We already have those, it's called Gone Home.

So... Autism general?
>>
>>335006371
Not supporting that guy but Dwarf Fortress requires a lot fucking more than a modicum of intelligence.
>>
>>335003479
sorry but looking at numbers aren't fun
>>
>>335006619
Not really. All it requires is that you can read a wiki and enough patience to learn the terrible gui.

Rest of the game is eazy-modo.
>>
>>335006654
dwarf fortress isn't a spreadsheet simulator, it just has low quality graphics
>>
>>335006781
Maybe you're just really good at video games, anon.
>>
>>335006619
>>335006781

Or you could just play Adventure Mode.
>>
The recent update made adventure mode such a chore.

Yes toady, I'm sure to your mathematically genius mind it's entertaining to have your screen filled with useless bullshit. Also, why are zombies so fucking ridiculous now? They're like minidemons
>>
This game was great before they removed Fabricate Claims

>>
>>335006909
Building a spy network isn't that bad. Now that I have played with the new update for a while, being able to claim several provinces at once is pretty nice.

Even though that's admitedly subjective, OP's point still stands that it's a game normalfags not only wouldn't want to play, but they'd probably wouldn't be able to play if their lives depended on it.

I know I couldn't
>>
>>335007140
No, I mean they're removing that too. As in you can't get a CB unless you pick up religious ideas.

Didn't know that. I guess it would depend on what tech it unlocks at and how other methods of getting CB's are balanced. If it unlocks at an early tech it shouldn't affect too much.

I'd have to see how it was implemented first, although it is worrying.

Good luck forming the Inca. And, like, doing jack shit after starting a new game.

>>
>>335007876
What about tribal conquest/fued? Couldn't you just have a CB that is automatically given to you at the start of the game?

Also, what if they nerfed the penalties for declaring war with no casus belli if your overall tech is low?

Again it depends on how it is balanced.
>>
>>335008108
Explain to me the benefits to removing fabricating claims.
>>
>>335006781
ehh maji
>>
>>335008160
Fabricating claims doesn't make any sense from a real world perspective. It was added for purely practical gameplay purposes, so if they are able to balance the game in a way that doesn't require it, why wouldn't they?
>>
>>335008160
They could remove the penalties for no casus belli where everyone could annex at 200% cost at the early game allowing for a rapid change in the balance of power over the first few years of the game thus adding more variety to the late game?

It really depends on how it is implemented. It could be good or bad.
>>
>>335007894

States aren't as bad as I was expecting to be honest. Though, I still think they need to only apply to provinces that aren't on your home continent. If your capital is in Europe, any provinces you take that are in Europe should not have the states shit applied to it.

At this point it feels like Paradox is just adding overcomplicated features to the game for no reason at all.

I loathe the aliens that use nothing but Meson.

Because every fucking time they just spam a billion fighters that descend upon your ships and destroy them in a single hit because fucking meson goes through everything.

I will never forget my anger when my 20k ton flagship with weapons all over died to one dinky shot.

Though I found the best strategy is to just fight fire with fire and have carriers of your own disgorge fighters to counter theirs.
And missiles.
Lots of missiles.
>>

It sounds like you want to play a 4x game, not a grand strategy game. Political maneuverings, such as acquiring a casus belli, are like 90% of the fun of GS.

Maybe they're ruining EU4 as quickly as possible so they can hype up EU5?

States are too unbalanced, the areas in europe and china are literally x10 better compared to everywhere else. And again I fail to see what improvements they make to the game.

More likely they're doing it to beta test the mechanics before they decide to implement them for it. EU4's pretty much hit market saturation at this point. Pretty much anybody who's interesting in these types of games already own it. Financially it makes sense to test stuff in EU4 than fuck up one of their new releases with it.

Civilians will produce and upkeep their own designs and ships.

You just need to have the right tech for them (Colony ship = Cryo, Tankers = Gas Refining) as well as having an updated civilian class engine. After that they'll slap together their own stuff based on their total funds which you can invest in.

I find them notoriously inept when trying to get them to transport facilities or colonists at times though, so it's helpful to have your own designs when you want to force something.

I do pre-Newtonian tech, no warp gates with year and population adjusted for modern times

So far in my play throughs I barely had enough resources by the time I was decently teched and last i remember had to rush the fuck outta a scout model ship with warp engines because spent the vast majority of my resources dedicated to making civie resource ships, I didn't even have a dedicated military ship lol

Why would you be playing it for 12 hours if it wasn't fun through out those 12 hours?

I mean maybe the fpm (fun per minute) ratio isn't to your liking but I assure you the longevity of the games are what makes it worth a buck

You'll stick with it for YEARS before it gets unfun and by then that faggot kid Icarus player already ran through at least 12 games by the time you're finished

So looking at it from a fpm point of view autist simulators are highly efficient form of fun compared to mainstream games

Civ 5 on Deity never becomes easy, it's a struggle until the usually bitter end because the AI will always be better than you.
>>
>>335007209
I still chuckle when people think that babys first Rogue-like is hard.
>>
>>335011620
All you really need to do is research the base tech and develop your own civilian engine (size greater than 25 and power less than x.5) and then the AI will take it and run.

Having the civ engines are really nice since then you can build freighters and such as your own specific civilian craft, which don't require overhauls or maintenance.

As for my setup, I like to start pre-Newtonian but fudge the numbers a bit to make everything flow smoothly so I can set up a good little production in the Sol system before I go off.

I also drop the difficulty modifier because I'm still learning how most things work with each other.
Like for the life of me I can't start communications with an alien race without it ending in bloodshed.

They don't necessarily pay attention to and/or minmax the stats, though. People I know just pick their favorite club and try to hire players they would've liked to in their club based on how the players do in real.
That said, football "enthusiasts" are still pretty autistic when it comes to the sport.

I had to convince my friends not to read the Don't Starve Together wiki when we all began playing, and because of that we were laughing at every dumb mistake we made. Good times.

Following a guide/wiki is just the same as following an arrow and on-screen instructions.

Your example is terrible because it assumes the only way to have an open world is to have it all easily accessible from the get go. The way to do it properly is to do it like, say, Gothic - areas have different wildlife of varying difficulty. You can visit them anytime, but if you lack the levels, you'll have to do a lot of creative sneaking while shitting your pants whenever you see a snapper. It keeps the game challenging all the time while still giving you the feeling of progression and eliminating "bandits wielding ancient artifacts" idiocy.
>>
>>335014876

Wow, that's a very detailed and concrete example.

Here's one of mine: becoming the arch-mage, guild master of the fighting guild or any other faction changes LITERALLY nothing in the game.

It has absolutely no impact whatsoever. And if those things don't qualify as major I don't know what else to say.

Nothing you do in the game matters, you meet the same enemies everywhere with the same difficulty and always find items of your "appropriate" level. It's just filler.

Sengoku Rance is one specific game in the Rance series. I'd recommend you start with that as it has the most engaging gameplay, and if you end up really liking the setting and characters you can go and play the other ones.

I feel exactly this way.

Please note that I actually have low-functioning autism. I feel like i'm too autistic to play these complex games.

I can't spend 12 hours on a single game because the "fun" output is not high enough.

I need to find the most efficient minute spend to fun return. I've made some spreadsheets on my laptop for which games give the most fun per minute spend.

The highest ranking games are hentai games. So now I usually just play hentai games.
