I never needed to upgrade my motherboard since 2010. Since I started this build with 2 sticks of 2GB, then upgraded to 4 sticks, now I'm in the awkward situation where if I want to upgrade further I need to buy an entire new set.
I obviously am not going to do that, because it doesn't make sense to buy anew 16GB of outdated RAM when I'll eventually need a new CPU and change motherboard as well.
