So playing this game with all these heavy combos on a keyboard is normal? Feels weird as fuck coming from controllers and pads.

the thing that may confuse you is the range, it depends on the moon though
C doesn't actually have a real blockstring. Watch out for Ittou(she can use it as an overhead because she can follow up on it) and the rekka because those are the only overheads she has. Her game legitimately revolves around unblockables, so pay attention to whenever she is charging something.
H can be very scary in competent hands. Make sure to try to EX-Guard - which is the yellow guard, it happens if you tap the back button when you are being hit instead of holding it, and restores a bit of gauge. The knife is the reset. After she throws the knife, she will probably do more or less the same thing again, but this time she has to pick up her knife to reset - this is your chance, either she will jump for it mid-string, or will pick it up, offering you a small window to jump out, or she will not be able to reset her blockstring and will try to dash 5c or something. She is scary when you are blocking nevertheless, because one such reset can easily get you into pink guard, but she doesn't have a way to really hit you aside of the overhead.
F-Ryougi has to be kept out of mid distance. Dependingon what you play, either 1) move away from her a lot, even if you have to tech behind her, try to make her whiff something - she has quite a bit of recovery, or 2) be in her face, especially directly above her, and do your earnest to cross her up and make her whiff in the wrong direction. You will find that getting out of her string is not even .that bad, but getting to her through that string is very difficult.
Lastly, Ryougi is terrible against pressure herself. Learn to do your own blockstring properly.

Half Moon is the actually simplest one. It sacrifices the ability to do lots of things for being able to do good things.
Full Moon is basically Blazblue/Guilty Gear. Aside of the inputs being similar, these characters tend to have something ridiculous on them, or somehow play in a weird way compared to the rest of the cast, and are very specialized.
Crescent Moon is the actual Melty Blood character schema. They tend to have the most tools and ways to use those tols, and to be the most technical.

Pick whoever you fancy or your waifu but always start with cresent moon style then start from there.
The reason with C-moon is because it doesn't restrict you too much.
The game isn't hard to understand and the combos are pretty easy to execute.

When I was playing earlier, I realized the default controls are different from the ps2 game default controls.
On the ps2, it was square for weak, x for medium and circle for strong. Triangle for shield.
Had to manually change the controls to be the same as the ps2 game.

I mean I keep having 4 or 6 held which completely fucks up anything I am doing and if I am on the right side of the screen, it makes me walk towards you which is likely not what I would like to be doing. That's why I went for the corner carry momiji stuff instead of like an actual combo, because it cannot fuck up a dash.
Also inputs sometimes get delayed by like two seconds while the game keeps running, and the character does nothing for two seconds, standing there like a retard, and then does the command.
It's happened a lot to me lately, but it's demonstrably not present in the training mode so it must be a netplay thing.

Your most important tool as Nanaya is staggering, you didn't seem to do i on purpose a lot. When you are 2a-ing someone, put a little delay between them, so that it seems you've stopped or went for something else. It's a really basic and really effective frame trap.

Undecided on who to play. I used to play Ciel in older games. C-Ciel has really fun combos but somewhat awkward neutral. F-Ciel seems to have fun pressure/oki game. But I'm also digging Aoki. C-Aoko has really fun movement, but F-Aoko seems much easier to use. I tend to like fast and simple characters like Chipp and Yosuke, so I'm completely undecided.
