It's not even a grind. I beat the story mode once with everyone and have just been playing online and have enough for the rest of the announced characters. The stage will be a small hit, but at the rate I make a week from casual play I'll have enough again by the time the other characters are out, especially since no character release in June.

I've been expecting a FM nerf since launch but there's been no talks of it. I'm assuming the strategy is players who come later might be more compelled to spend actual money, when there's much more available, and longstays such as myself are more to be tempted by premium costumes and FM sinks like stages.

Gief can space himself to whiff punish the normals of those characters pretty easily with SPD and they dont have the completely oppressive rushdown of the other characters that can just permanently lock him down.
It's not an amazing matchup, it's like 6-4 Karin and 7-3 Necalli but it's an advantage.

If you are going for just characters you can get the 6 of them (600k points) them by beating survival and story mode in a gew hours. So no. There is no grinding

Necalli really has no safe ways in, he has a slow ass overhead a slow ass grab and Gief has a throw invincible EX SPD. As long as you use your quickrises well you can escape his pressure pretty easily and then he's put back at his disadvantage.
It really comes down to how good the Necalli is with seismos.

i have done the story modes for each character and about 4-5 10 round survivals and a 30 round survival and have enough for Alex and halfwayto guile and theres no way that will take you more than 3-5 hours even if you are completely braindead

Hell, it doesn't even take that long. If you can combo into super and just spam BnB's while skipping cutscenes (because who didnt watch them all when they broke street date) you can do all 16 within the hour. That got me about 140-160k and from there you just do trials. Easy 300k.
