Darkmoon doesn't summon you to help other people. Darkmoon only calls on the blue sentinels to help you if you get invaded.
Blue sentinels is the one that a7utosummons you whenever someone from darkmoon gets invaded.
If you're in blue sentinels, you will get no peace. You get summoned every couple minutes. During peak hours, many times you only get a matter of seconds in your own world before being summoned to help the next bum.

DaS had some super useless covenants, but at least Chaos Servant, Princess Guard, and Dragon Fetishists had some neat things you could get for PvE purposes.
I looked at all the DaS3 covenants and there's nothing really of value for offline folks. I mean shit, at least BB allowed people who played offline to get some passive buffs from joining covenants.

A Refined Dark Sword with 30/30 minimum Str/Dex would do more damage, but a Raw Astora Sword will carry you through the entire game comfortably and, obviously, allow you to dump points into health (don't go above 27 Vigor, the dropoff is enormous) and endurance.
Yes, Dark Souls 3 is THIS poorly balanced in the weapons.
