I have around 20 screenshots of this kind of shit and could've taken many more. This game was so obviously rushed out and had no love put into it. The direct asset ports from previous games ain't helping either

it's all about art direction and good engineers. this engine w was made for Bloodborne and looks so much better there. With DaS 3 FromSoft had no support from JapanStudio so they had to try to replicate Bloodborne and failed at it.

Dark areas look horrible for example. look at these rocks, they are all the same copy/paste clutter and get a generic shader to make them look "next gen" but the end result is a plastic look. Compare this to the ladder going from the forest up to Iosefka's clinic in Bloodborne, they are both just long ass ladders surrounded by rocks and yet there older games does it do much better.

AnorLondo has literal copy/paste environments from DaS 1, with the same polygons and no clutter, they just import there objects from there older engine and add this one's lighting system to disguise it a bit. looks horrible.

it does, you can see it in earlier original areas, or at least they bake it in (tree roots have a strong shadow on the floor). But after two areas the buffet drops hard and you notice the lack of detail in every place the devs think you wouldn't stare for to long. Also the post you're quoting is a Das1 level, there is barely any geometry to make ambient occlusion do it's job (or whatever they do to fake it)

Light being dynamic or backed makes absolutely no difference, all that matters is the end result.

You're talking about general graphics. Bloodborne is made in the same engine. The shitty lighting is the same and nothing casts proper shadows in that game either.

it's almost as if you didn't read anything I said. I don't care if light (and so shadows too) is dynamic or not, all that matters is the end result. bloodborne obviously had a higher budget and a second experienced team co-developing the engine and game, with their own art directors and engineers.

you can give the same pencil to two people and end up with completely different results. Bloodborne did everything from scratch and had much more clutter and detail even in tiny irrelevant corners, as well as more post processing effects. DaS3 on the other hand has less talent working on it and many reused assets which don't work at all with the new engine

i went back to play DS1 and compare and they both look fairly similar in terms of geometry

it doesn't look nearly as barren as DS2 though
