It's a great spot, big open and no enemies nearby.
Before entering the Deacons of the Deep fight, I saw all those summon signs on the stairs leading down and assumed the fight must be really hard for so many to offer their help there.
Then I fought the deacons, saw they were a joke, and later read that all the signs were there because people like to be summoned for that super easy fight so they can easily get their covenant marks for beating it.

You simply use that claw thingy and summon everyone and everything (red, orange, white, sunbro, grape) and have a tournament where the champion fights your ass for glory underneath a beautiful moon outside a cathedral.
That entire area is awesome for pvp, both invasions (AF and red bros) and the tournament as mentioned above.

I managed to get to Pontiff without leveling my health once the entire game and holy fuck this boss is rediculous. The only boss I had nearly this much trouble with was the Abyss Watchers because of their tendency to just gang bang you, even the one that's supposd to fight with you at times just will decide to go straight for you.

I thought being a Grape Phantom would be interesting but it usually just comes down to killing the host/summons since you can't always count on invaders every time.
