Eh, my first playthrough isn't meant to be hardcore. I summon a lot and I have fun, if I die to a boss a couple times I'll call in some sunbros.
After I've cleared the game I'll avoid summoning for NG+, like I did with Dark Souls II.
Haven't beat every boss yet but I've solo'd everything up to Oceiros and literally everyone has either killed me once or not at all.
Bloodborne was harder, Orphan and Ludwig took me days to beat.

Nameless King was only hard because he was essentially two bosses back to back. When you look at each fight separately, it's not really hard.
Hardest boss in NG was easily Pontif Sulyvahn. He was the only one to take more than a few tries.
It would have been Nameless King, and I was sure it was going to be, but I picked up the timings on the second phase way too easily.
On NG+ I hit a realization when I killed Nameless King first try that I hadn't died to a boss once that playthrough. Is there a way to get the difficulty back? I have back up saves at every boss because of how much fun I had on NG, but they're no use when the bosses are so easy now. Should I push for the highest difficulty NG+? Or would it not help.

He's pretty well hidden. You need to use the dragon meditation gesture to unlock the zone. I imagine 95% of blind runs will miss it.

Champion. Hard to know when to you have time to heal. Also had some problems with Soul of Cinder but that's because I didn't know until the end that undead bone shards buffed your estus. I thought it was this game's bonfire ascetic.
Nameless King was piss easy though. I don't know what you find so hard about him, his abilities are very easy to dodge, and if you get good opportunities to hit him in a short time, you can riposte him for that extra damage.

Camera's only a problem if you keep trying to run underneath the bird's legs. If you stay in front of the face and fight it head on like you're supposed to it's perfectly fine.
I'm also pretty sure that not running directly beneath the bird keeps it from flying up and breathing fire down on you, which is the only cheap thing I can recall it doing.

Once I got to the first real boss I was back in the feel of the game and died no more than 4 times to any boss afterward. I wish I could go back and unplay previous souls games to truly experience this one as it was intended. Nameless King is a special case, I don't consider the first phase as actually fighting him, only the drake. Against him only, I died about like 6 times. Add the dragon with the whole camera shit and it bumps up to 15.
No summons for any of the bosses, although about 60% of bosses took me about 5-6 tries to defeat, Crystal Sage was the only boss that I beat in one try.

I always do many playthroughs with various restrictions or themes, its fun to see what happens
right now im doing bandit knife only with a luck based build, next im gonna do crossbow only, then maybe more challenge oriented stuff like no healing estus allowed forcing me to use only miracles to heal (i havent tried faith yet so this could potentially end up not that bad but miracles seem slow compared to estus)

Part of the reason that people have such varying opinions on which bosses are tougher is that everyone played the game with a different build, and there are stats and mechanics in this game that are completely useless and make the game much tougher for people that focus on them. For example, poise does literally nothing (no, not "hyperarmor", that is based on your weapon), and heavy armor has worse weight/defense ratio, so people putting points into Endurance are basically wasting them. Or another example, heavier weapons like greatswords not only have higher stat requirements, but use up higher stamina, hit more slowly, and don't do considerably more damage, so that they are also a waste of stat points in a way.
Someone that decided to play the game by pumping points into only one scaling stat (like STR), and the rest into Vigor and Endurance, will actually have a much easier time with the game than someone trying to make a build dependent on heavier equipment or mechanics like poise.

Literally first tried him on both my chars, one of the easiest bosses in the game.
Fucker can be parried, and after dodging his spin he will spend tons of time with stabbing the air. You can easily drink Estus, cast something or just hit him while hes doing fuck all.
Summoning his shitty copy takes an enormous amount of time and you can almost kill the copy before it even gets to move -- while also hitting Pontiff.
Any way to do the box duplicate yet? I want to do Creighton and a Black Knight playthrough but the items are pretty far on in the game.
I totally forgot summons even existed since I play offline. Used them for most fights in DaS in DaS2 but didn't use a single one this time.
Hardest boss for me was either the Soul of Cinder or Champion Gundyr, honestly. I have a hard time against any humanoid boss with unclear telegraphing. The Pursuer in DaS2 is still a nightmare for me.
Also, I didn't think the Nameless King was too hard at all. His first form is gimmicky (dodge when he goes to swoop and land, then attack the dragon's head), and his second form is super easy to just circle strafe and kill, and took me two tries.

Not sure why but abyss watchers gave me tons of trouble. Dancer or last boss probably the hardest.
Currently doing my first run, no summon, no shields, no magic.
Currently I'm against Pontiff and barely put him in phase 2 after like 6 tries. Took me about 30-40 to beat the dancer (git gud I know)

I'm trying to max out sunbro and it's painful. Hosts literally have no idea how to dodge and get creamed when their precious shields get btfo. I've been helping on dancer for an hour and have five medals. If she focuses on any host more than ten seconds they die. Dragonslayer armour is even worse.

I know everyone calls it a gimmick fight but I don't really see it as being that gimmicky. It's not like Dragon God or Bed of Chaos where you are pretty much battling the environment, you still do the same thing you would to any other boss: hit him until he dies, except you can only hit his arm.

I figured out that you needed to meditate from the dragon torso stone description and the stone dragon corpse staring at the Archdragon Peak in the distance.
However, it wasn't blind because I had to look up where to find the meditation gesture. I thought I missed it from an optional NPC.

I summoned for every boss except the tutorial one which took me 3 tries. Fuck you lol
Nameless King. First phase is a pushover. Second phase, he does so much damage that there's no way you can afford to roll sloppily, as armour doesn't do shut. Not to mention his occasional 3-hit combos which can catch you completely off-guard.

None of them were hard so calling something hardest feels wrong.
Soul of cinder was the hardest for me, I cheesed nameless king with the longbow.
Nameless King then champion then Pontiff
Rest weren't that bad or took a few tries to perfect
I died to Sulyvahn the most because I played overly defensively and couldn't deal with the shadow.
Second would probably be Deacons of the Deep because it took me a while to get the timing right and I got cursed, but I don't know if I'd call him hard.
Third is Nameless King because I couldn't escape the fire in time and it took me a while to find out you attack his head for decent damage. Nameless King himself isn't bad at all, insane tracking aside.

I had no idea what was going on and just did sweeping attacks and then the boss fight was suddenly over.
Nameless king was the hardest but he wasn't terrible. When I beat him I got lucky and got him to stagger, giving me a riposte and then two fully charged strong attacks while he recovered.
