he's pretty hard compared to every other boss. that feather attack is almost unavoidable erven with trickster/royalguard. the only way to avoid it i know of is to just get close to him. his AoE is fast and has incredible reach. he deals tons of damage and has decent defense against your attacks. he rarely gets stunned. those pillars are incredibly stupid hitboxes sometimes. the only ones that compare are Arkham and Vergil 3.

I can't believe no one mentioned Vergil's moveset. It's simple (not to use though), confined to only one style, but the combos are amazing.
Btw, I only played the PC port and had literally no trouble with it aside from a few crashes here and there. And yes, I played with a keyboard - IIRC you can do all the moves using WASD,Q,E and UIOJKL. Once you get the hang of it, it gets pretty natural, though a bit more tiresome than a gamepad, of course.
To anyone thinking about buying this game - go ahead. And make sure it's the Special Edition, so that you can play as Vergil. I don't know what bugs and inconveniences people are talking about, by I sure never encountered any and the game is so awesome in just about every aspect that I don't think any bugs could make me hate it.

On my first playthrough, I never really had that much trouble with Beowulf. I got him on my second try, the only really tough move was when he does a burst of light or whatever in an area around himself, I never get out of the way in time for that shit.
I had a ton of trouble with Cerberus and Arkham though.

And DMC bosses are way, way better both design-wise and moveset-wise than DS bosses. The latter have like 3-4 combos each and they have little to no backstory.
